| Buffy and her mother moved to Sunnydale to begin a new life. Buffy meets her new "Watcher", Giles, the school librarian. Buffy soon learns that Sunnydale is a gateway to hell. We are introduced to the "Scooby Gang": Willow, Xander, Cordelia and Angel. Buffy and Willow become fast friends and the group of them begin to work together to fight evil. Angel and Buffy meet and they form an uneasy alliance. Xander follows Buffy around like a puppy for the first part of season one because he has a big crush on her. The "Master" is introduced and we learn that if he is risen, the world will go to hell. The "Scooby Gang" saves the world from destruction. Angel is revealed to be a vampire. He only shows his true self when he is happy. Buffy spends most of the season reluctant to be the slayer. Angel and Buffy fall in love. We meet Darla, who sired Angel. As Angel and Buffy become closer, Darla does everything she can to break them up, but fails miserably when Angel slays her. Giles discovers Buffy's grave and realizes that it is her destiny to die young. Buffy wants to quit but knows she can't. She faces the master and does die, by drowning, but only for a minute, before Xander gives her CPR. She stops the harvest and saves the world, something she'll do many a times in the seasons to come. |
