Law seals narrow League Cup victory
Ridgeons Eastern Counties League Cup, Round 2
Tuesday 28th October 2003
Fenland Warriors 1 (0) v (0) 0 Godmanchester Rovers

A second half penalty from Andy Law proved to be the winner in this less than brilliant cup tie.
The away side started the stronger on this wet evening at Low Road, but were denied early on by some decent defending. The Warriors then were put under pressure by a quick Godmanchester attack for most of the half but held out thanks to solid defending from Sam Price and Thomas Cooley.
The second half was a different strory, as both Lacey and Green went close, but were denied by last-ditch defending and some decent keeping from the away teams' custodian. The breakthrough came in the second half as Charles Lacey's mazy run was ended abruptly in the box by the over enthusiastic Godmanchester right-back in the 63rd minute. The referee pointed to the spot and
ANDY LAW duly stepped up to convert the resulting spot kick, calmly slotting it into the roof of the net. This turned out to be his last goal for the club, and his fifth in a short stay.
The Warriors defended well after, and despite the away sides best efforts held on to meet Gorleston in the next round.

'Thriller' at Haverhill
Ridgeons Eastern Counties League Division 1
Saturday 20th December 2003
Haverhill Rovers 0 (0) v (0) 0Fenland Warriors

A poor game in Suffolk, but a point non the less. Eddie Hewitt looked strong in both halfs, but neither side seemed to have any clear-cut chances. Haverhill were marginally better overall but both sides got what they deserved from this less than brilliant encounter.

Team Baker, Phillips, Ingram, Price, Cooley (Elliott 88), Gibbons, Prestidge, Law, Lacey, Green, Hewitt. Subs not used Solari, Asquith
Law sends Kirkley packing!
Ridgeons Eastern Counties League Division 1
Saturday 18th October 2003
Kirkley 0 (0) v (1) 2 Fenland Warriors

A stirling performance from Andy Law paved the way for an impressive win at Kirkley on Saturday. Influential player-boss Orlando Prestidge was missing through illness, so John Asquith deputised on the right side.
The game started at a break-neck pace with Kirkley getting the better of the early exchanges. That was until  on 14 minutes, some good build-up play led to
ANDY LAW recieving the ball in left midfield. he promptly came inside, paced his way into the box, beating two defenders on the way, skipping past the last man and blasting a right-footed shot into the roof of the net from midway inside the box. The crowd were silenced by the strike, surely one of the best ever seen in a Warriors game, and Laws second in as many games. From then on, the away side took control of the game and both Charles lacey and Eddie Hewitt went close before the break.
The second half was much the same, although no real opportunities came for either side. With twenty minutes to go, Kirkley broke through, and an incredibly powerful shot was somehow kept out by Bengali keeper Baker, who pulled off a stunning reflex save to his left to palm the ball away..
The game was finally wrapped up on 81 minutes when Law and Andy Green were involved in a strong attack which led to Green getting a shot off which the keeper tipped onto the bar, and dropped down leaving
CHARLES LACEY with an open goal. In the rush, he performed a brilliant overhead kick to send the ball into the bottom corner. A good overall performance, and bodes well for the future.

Team: Baker, Phillips, Ingram, Price(Elliott 75), Cooley, Gibbons, Asquith(Solari 75), Law, Lacey, Green, Hewitt. Sub not used: Woolley

Dire Draw against Downham
Ridgeons Eastern Counties League Division 1
Tuesday 14th October 2003
Fenland Warriors 1 (0) v (1) 1 Downham

The Warriors deserved no more than a point from this flat league encounter. The game started poorly, but Downham took the lead after 12 minutes with a deflected freekick being turned in. The Warriors defended poorly and were lucky not to concede again, and would have done without new keeper Craig Bakers assertiveness between the sticks. It was another debutant who made the breakthrough though, whern
ANDY LAW, one of the few bright sparks in the game, converted an 82nd minute penalty to give the home side a share of the spoils after Lacey had been upended in the box. A very flat performance, with Warriors getting all they deserved out of this encounter with a less-than-standard Downham side.

Team: Baker, Phillips, Price, Cooley(Elliott 80), Gibbons, Prestidge, Law, Lacey, Green, Hewitt. Sub not used: Woolley
