Cespian, also known as 'Taurn'fea' by the elves, are a race of rogue horses most unique than any other breeds. Highly intelligent and arrogant, Cespian's lack the magic using ability of Teu'kelytha {Moon horses}. These animals are known to be more obstinate and stubborn than a donkey which created the phrase: "Stubborn as a Cespian." Or in elvish terms. "Stubborn as a Taurn'fea male".
Known for their beauty as well as arrogance, their coats vary from either inky-black to chocolate brown. From time to time and on rare occasions, Cespian's have been known to sport socks, blazes, stars, and circles of silvery-white upon their forehead/legs [in the socks case]. Their true source of beauty is in their extra long tail and manes. Naturally wavy and silky in texture, the manes and tails are usually the same color as their coats, but not always. There has been insistances of a Cespian having a chocolate brown coat and inky black mane/tail..and vice versa.
An easy way to tell a Cespian apart from any ordinary horse would be the strange coloring of their eyes. Clear-water-gray with a ring of vermillion circling the iris. Expressive, a person could range a Cespian's mood by their eyes. When enraged, their eyes darken to pitch black.
Cespian's are unique in their temperment. High spirited, hence how they earned the name 'Taurn'fea' by the elves, they are loyal to those they deem worthy. Also, they are known for their steadfast manner which makes them perfect for war mounts. They are not skittish from magic [even though they have no resistance}, loud noises, blood, weapons. Tempermental.
History:
Myth claims that Cespian's are the long ago product of Teu'kelytha breeding with normal horses or mustangs. No one, not even the elves can say for sure if this is correct. No history is recorded over this discovery.
Elves believe the myth must be true because of the Cespian's skills and intelligence. Save for their dark colorings and lack of magic tolerance, their behavior is similiar to their moon horse ancestors. Another reason why the elves believe Cespian's are descendants of Moon Horses are their long-lived life spans. An average Cespian can live 150 years or more. {Moon horses live to be 200 or more}
