       "What I learnt about Forgrim"

A few weeks ago I was hunting near Kazul Kazarak, and being the curious warrior that I am, I decided to venture inside and have a look around.
I wandered around for a while, and found myself at the Forbidden Keep of Overlord Forgrim.

I tried to gain entrance to the Keep, but the gaurds were adamant that I was not allowed to pass, and I left disappointed, wishing I could have learnt more about Forgrim and his adventurous past.

I then decided that I would talk to some people who have been around a bit longer than me, and ask them about him, in the hopes that I could perhaps learn from them, and from the illustrious career of one of the greatest warriors my guild has ever known.

Forgrim became Guild Master of the Warrior's Guild after Ulf, who was the founder of the Guild, and one of his mentors.

According to warriors who were in the guild at the time, Forgrim was one of the strongest Guild Masters that the guild had ever known, inspiring the warriors to greatness, each wanting to find favour in his eyes.

As a mentor he was brilliant, leading by example. He was a strong, fast warrior, I was even told that he could dodge 100 hydras! Which leads me to a story which Skit told me:

Roachmill (Who was the first mortal to reach level 99 and the first to enter the HoA) was being pushed by the Gods to find the Hydras. It was rumoured at the time that even Deori was helping Roachmill to find them. And then from under his nose, Forgrim, who was just a warrior with no leadership position, and Trueheart, found the Hydras first.

This was just one example of the kind of excellence that he strived for, and which he encouraged others to achieve.

Even his wedding to Sheba was not a simple affair. Zir was marrying them and providing Forgrim with his matrimonial armour. However, Zir did not just drop them at his feet, Forgrim had to battle for each piece of armour. Zir threw monsters at Forgrim the likes of which the lands had never seen, and if he survived, he received another piece of armour. Such a warrior was Forgrim that he arrived at his wedding covered in blood, and had to clean up before the ceremony could continue!

One of my favourite stories is about the time that Forgrim reforged "thunderbolt" a hammer of great power, out of soul metal ingots. Each time the metal heated up in his hands it stole some of his soul, and ended up killing just about everyone in the room, but Forgrim survived and retained the hammer.

He was a warrior first and foremost, and longed to be on the battlefield with the other warriors, without worrying about the details that running a guild required. He missed the excitement and glory of the hunt, but his loyalty was to Zir and his desire was to Lord Zir's will, and Lord Zir willed that he run the guild, which Forgrim did for a number of years.

In the words of one warrior of the guild:
"Most think of him now as he is in current form. In his greatest days he held no special armour or weapons but won with tactics, brute force, and sheer determination. He led the Warriors when the guild was still fairly young and basically set a new standard for those long into the future to look up to."

Eventually the call back to the battlefield was too strong and Forgrim decided that he needed a replacement, and after speaking with Zir, Chay was made Guild Master.
