A post by Vaegan long ago reflecting life as a Warrior
                                               "Ways of Old"

We are engagers of war and seekers of glory. We live and die by our weapon, always prepared and carrying one with us. We are masterful battle tacticians and enjoy telling and retelling stories of our histories and battles. We are prideful. We brag about our kills and how much guinness we can down. We often engage in drinking competitions and then friendly bar brawls soon after. We are extremely loyal to our guild and each other and respect each other equally. The salute is the highest form of respect you can give. Bowing your head shows submission and it will likely be bashed in or cut off. Salute every warrior who walks through the guild halls to show them respect.
Though we are highly respectful to each other, we are a darker guild by nature. Warriors are not bound by chivalry and honor but driven by bloodlust and war, and thus will often test the might of city guards or other guilds. "If you can slain a guard, he needed slaying, a fat lazy guard is of no use to anyone. If he slays you, then he is doing his duty, and was you that needed slaying."-Zir. Zir is our immortal patron and deemed the protector of the lands. His duty extends to us and thus we kill purposefully, whether it is to prove our strength, teach a hard lesson, or hunt for our guild.. Leave the mindless butchering to the Barbarians. <hur> We are both respected and feared for our ways, winning a battle no matter what it takes to win. Our war trophies and blood soaked weapons and armour are symbols of our merciless ways of battle.
We do not pamper each other. We do not give away gold or items for nothing. If you want something, you must earn it. Earn it by proving your strength in battle, by slaughtering creatures for gold, or servicing the guild. If you wish to kill a creature, we will not take you there. Start a party with those of your same stature and fight it as equals. There are quests about the lands that are puzzling to solve, do your best because we will not tell you the answers. Work as team with other warriors and exchange information to complete the quests.
We are the toughest guild in the lands because we follow the toughest path. We firmly believe that the harder you work, the greater glory we reap. Part of reaping glory is tithing to the guild. Tithing not only pays the guild back for teaching you skills, sheltering you, and supplying you with weapons and armour, but it increases the amount of times we can buy luck to further increase yourselves. It is customary that you keep your guild level at least half of your land level.
The Warrior spirit it above all, the mightiest in the lands. We stop at nothing to achieve our goals. We fight until all is lost and take pride in dieing in battle with our fellow warriors. We always greet warriors with a “Hail!” over Gshouts, often times chanting our names in both gshouts and shouts: “Glory to Warriors!”. Our morale is high and we hate when bickering reaches our ears. Guild shouts are not to be used to argue and any warrior who incessantly bickers over Gshouts will be silenced. We know that each of us represents our guild and our spirit is ever pervasive no matter whose company we are in.
We love battle and we love supporting our guild with it. Guildhunts are called very often (sometimes many times in one day) and it is highly recommended that warriors beckon to the call of their guild. When we have a guild hunt, we show support by slaughtering creatures, tithing 75%, and donating any gold acquired to the guild treasury. It is a time to unite as one force and show lands the strength of the warrior spirit. A warrior that attended the hunt is assigned the task to post our achievements on the message boards. Whenever there are invasions in the various cities, Warriors are the first to get there. We pride ourselves in showing the lesser guilds our tactical mastery and unity in order to clear out hoards of unsuspecting beasts. Our legendary fighting is often spoken about for ages after an event like this takes place. If at any time our guild is invaded, the guild horn is blown and all Warriors are required to defend the guild. Some immortals and heroes have been known to aid and reward us when they witness such loyalty.
Though we are all respected as equals, we are a militant guild and thus there will be no disrespect tolerated to guild lieutenants, the guild master, guild heroes, or patron. The commanders of the guild are here to serve you and the guild as a whole. They see to it that the warrior spirit never falters. They grant titles and rewards to those who have earned it by great feats of battle or service to the guild. They purchase luck, weapons and armour, and building materials to construct new rooms in the guild. They have earned a position of the highest glory because of their own dedication and leadership abilities. The guild master is the mortal commander of our guild. The GM position is the greatest of all glories to achieve within the guild and thus only the bravest, strongest, and wisest of warriors ever take to that position. Because of this, his word is final. Disobeying the command of the GM has often times been detrimental to a warrior’s health.
Whining or complaining is usually dealt with by using a swift kick (with spiked boots) to the gut. Don’t whine about getting gold or items, earn them. Don’t whine about other warriors. If there is a problem, you suck it up and release your anger on the battle field until you are able to respectfully and maturely discuss it with a GO. Guild lieutenants are the first in the chain of command you speak to. Don’t go straight to the GM, guild hero, or patron. They are the leaders of the guild for a reason and know if a problem needs to be addressed by higher authority figures. The Vanguards are Warriors who uphold our customs and enculturate younger warriors. They are the mentors of the guild, advising in skills, tactics, and hunting. If you have a question, the Vanguards will know the answer. The Vanguard position is one of great honor and is chosen based on service and dedication to the guild and its members.
This guild is a meritocracy. Vanguards are appointed by the Head Vanguard, Guild Lieutenants are appointed by the Guild Master, and the Guild Master is appointed by the Guild Patron. Voting is beneath the warrior’s guild, as a democracy is only a popularity contest. If you wish to excel in the guild, you must prove yourself through leadership, dedication, skill, virtue, and service to the guild.
The guild is comprised of free spirited individuals who are able to choose their own paths in life. Though the guild does not limit you to a charter, we do ask one thing. That above all, no matter what path you choose, you stand united with your brothers and sisters at all times. Our true power is revealed when our diversity is brought together for our greatest cause: To reap glory for our guild
