What is a Vanguard?
Simple. A Vanguard is two things.
One,
A Vanguard is our guilds form of mentor as in many of the other guilds within Terris. Each Vanguard is charged with the responsibility of:
Passing along the history of this guild. so it may never die.
Maintaining the legacy that the Elite has become.
Supporting the new warriors and offering direction and guidance.
And teaching the art and craft of war to all those who reside within our walls.
Two,
A Vanguard is someone that the guild leadership looks upon as a good example for other guild members to follow.
He/She has proven themselves to be dedicated to their bretheren.
He/She also posseses knowledge on both the history and workins of the guild as well as the techniques and ways of war.
A vanguard is also familiar with the realm and can aid adventures where it is neccesary
What is a Vanguard not?
Once again an easy answer.
A Vanguard is not somebody who runs around holding your hand through battle or walking you everywhere you need to go.
A Vanguard is not somebody who gives you everything you ask for and can not be expected to hand you gold and rp's and everything you could ask for to boost your experience.
A Vanguard is not somebody who will show you victory without earning it.
How do I get a Vanguard?
Each new member is recomended to seek out a Vanguard. Key word is "Seek Out" One will not come to you.. Like I said.. vanguards will do nothing for you , but we will help if asked. When you choose a Vanguard you feel is right for you you will then begin training in the Black Dragon Vanguard Program. What lies after this is up to you and your Vanguard. They may wish to show you tricks of the trade in combat, or they may wish to drill you in knowledge of the land or guild history. You can learn a vast amount from your Vanguards and what they wish to bestow on you is up to them at this point.
Your Vanguard can also give you your quest for your Guild Title once you achieve guild level 35 and in order to recieve this title you must aproach a Vanguard to ask for a quest or test he feels worthy of you to earn your title. Only upon completion of this Quest or test via a Vanguard or GO will you be granted your guild title, no matter if your guild level 35, 50, 200, or 255
Once you and your Vanguard feel your ready to complete the program and go into the realm as a full fledged warrior, He/she will give you another a test to complete your Vanguard Program training.
After that the possibilities are endless. You can go on by yourself to train to be a Vanguard, a guild officer or just take what you learned and help your other bretheren.
