"As often as a study is cultivated by narrow minds, they will draw from it narrow conclusions."

Go Now Into the Darkness of the Night

Go now into the darkness of the night.
Awake when you can face the coming day.

Lay down until the end of fading sight.

Prophets who shout and claim they’ve seen the light
Then realize they’ve seen but just one dimming ray

Go now into the darkness of the night.

Soldiers lost in wars for what is “right,”
Before the shrouds and maggots and decay,

Lay down until the end of fading sight.

Children who sang and ran with flying kites
And now can see the end of endless play

Go now into the darkness of the night.

Elders viewed as losers in a fight
Against the wrinkles, lines, and passing days,

Lay down until the end of fading sight.

And now, my dear, with all your might,
Release the pressure of an anxious day.
Go now into the darkness of the night.

Lay down until the end of fading sight.
