Hello!  Thank you for considering me as a minister for your wedding ceremony.  The following information is to help you evaluate my compatibility with what you are looking for, and to give you a little more information about my services in addition to that on my website

My Qualifications as a Minister

My Beliefs and Ordination

I believe each person has their own path to follow and that it doesn’t really matter what religion or spiritual practices you hold, we’re ultimately all headed in the same direction.  I trust in the power of love and that listening to your heart will lead to grace.

I've always been interested in helping people receive blessings and follow any inner guidance I receive to that effect.  I applied for ordination through the Metaphysical Interfaith Church (MIC) and was impressed with the sense of responsibility and community they offer their members. Within 48 hours of receiving my ordination, my neighbor became engaged and requested my services.  I'm a firm believer that serendipity and coincidence are more than face value.  I hope I can help others celebrate their life sacraments and honor their milestones.

I was ordained through MIC in July 2004; I am qualified to officiate throughout the U.S., Canada and other locations within each location's legal parameters.  I have performed Christian-based and non-denominational ceremonies to date in which I received high recommendations on the professionalism of the delivery and beauty of the ceremonies.

I am comfortable incorporating aspects of any or a variety of religions and philosophies into formal or informal ceremonies - I'm happy to research whatever is needed to help a couple enrich their ceremony and make it meaningful to them.  This includes cross-cultural and same-gender commitment vows as well.

What Marriage Means to Me

Marriage is a commitment a couple makes to love, respect, honor, and cherish each other and to bring their best to the relationship whenever possible.  This is a commitment to accept each partner's faults, to help each other grow, support each other during highlights and lowlights, forgive each other when they fail in each other's eyes, and praise each other when they exceed each other’s expectations.  Marriage is a commitment to what is real and enduring in a relationship.  It's respecting your partner for who they are, not for what you think they will become.  It's also being a witness to another human being's life.  It's not easy, but nothing cherished is easy.

The Wedding Ceremony

A ceremony serves multiple purposes: It calls down blessings upon a couple and the "birth" of the marriage relationship.  It presents the beginning of a new life together.  It also provides a touchstone that a couple can share when the feelings they shared before God, family, and/or friends elevated the moment of commitment into a sacrament.  Sharing the ceremony with friends and family can strengthen family and cultural bonds through traditions incorporated into the ceremony.  It can help a blended family feel closer and accepted when children are included.

Finally, a ceremony can be as small as shared gestures and a few words, it doesn't have to be anything grand or meet other's expectations.  When you stand in front of each other exchanging vows, the world around you drops away and you feel love beaming from all those around you and radiating between each other - it's an incredible moment and an incredible sacrament!

Fees

A typical fee for ceremonies in the Sacramento area is between $200 and $500.  As a working businesswoman, I have 20 years experience being professional, prepared, and well spoken for a variety of events.  As an ordained Spiritual Minister, I have experience conducting small and large wedding ceremonies.  I operate on a donation basis with a recommended donation of $200-250 for the following services:

·        providing samples and creating the ceremony script in partnership with you (meeting)

·        phone and e-mail consultations to finalize the ceremony script

·        rehearsal advice and participation (if no other conflict exists)

·        the wedding ceremony and completion of the license

·        a nicely printed copy of the ceremony for your wedding scrapbook

·        filing the marriage license

Please note that this list can be reduced, particularly for a private ceremony.

Many wedding websites and advice columns will say, “you get what you pay for,” but I want to assure you that I will provide professional, courteous service and a beautiful ceremony that meets your desires.

I hope you'll grant me the privilege of performing your ceremony.

Kind Regards,

Rev. Marjorie Hertneck
