A Better Dog Through Training!!
The Wascana Dog Obedience Club offers all levels of Obedience Training. You can start your new puppy off with our Puppy Kindergarten Class or if your dog is older, but has never had any training, he/she can start with the Beginner's Class. The classes don't end there -- we also offer classes in Novice, Open & Utility. Conformation handling classes are also offered at the training facility.

We have highly qualified and experienced instructors who also have assistants to help with the classes, so that everyone gets all the help they need.
Puppy  Class
Dogs 3 - 6 months old

Puppy  Class is a seven week course that starts with a registration/orientation week. You will meet your instructors and they will give you the guidelines of the class and the rules of the training facility. This is an ideal opportunity to ask questions and get great advice!!!

The class runs for 7 consecutive weeks for one hour each week. The class has two components - a training session and an informational portion. In training we start with the very basics such as  leash training, sit, down & coming when called. In the informational portion we provide you with the proper tools to raise a healthy, happy, well-behaved puppy.Topics that may be covered include grooming, crate training, toys, vet visits and nutrition.

Novice Class

This class runs for 8 weeks, one hour each week. This class teaches all the novice exercises and gets you ready for an Obedience trial. NOTE: A student entering this class must have a minimum of one beginner's class before they will be able to take this class.

Open Class Part One

This class runs for 10 weeks and concentrates on teaching your dog the start of the open exercises. There is extensive work done on taking the dumbbell, off leash heeling, stays, and starts you off on the jumps and the down on recall. This class does not get you ready to trial your dog, it just gets you started on the exercises. NOTE: a student entering this class must have completed a Novice Class.

Beginner Class
Dogs over 6 months old

The Beginner Level One  class starts with a registration/orientation week. The first week is conducted without your dog to  give you opportunity to ask questions and get advice without interruptions.

This class runs for 8 weeks for one hour each week. In this class we cover several obedience exercises, concentrating on leash training, sits and downs, stays & recalls . This class also offers great socialization for your dog.

Open Class Part Two

This class takes off where open part one finishes and also runs 10 weeks. It will take you and your dog to the end of each exercise and prepares you for trialing.
Cost $90
Utility Class

This class also runs for 10 weeks and gives you the training needed to compete in Utility. All students entering this class must have gone through Open.
Cost $90
Trial Ready Class

Ready to head to the ring for a trial but need alittle extra work -- THIS class is for you. It runs for 6 weeks and helps you work out all the quirks before entering into the ring at a trial. This class is always taught by experienced instructors who trial under a regular basis and they are knowledgable about all the CKC rules.
Cost $15 weekly drop in
$60 for all six weeks
Introduction to Dog Sports
Prerequisite: Puppy or Beginner

This class emphasizes the use of  skills learned in Level One in every day situations. It will introduce students to other dog sports and help students and dogs prepare for the Canine Good Citizen Test.
Along with strengthening the exercises learned in Level One, working around distractions, door manners, grooming, introduction to jumping, tricks, targeting and agility may be convered.
