WPHS stresses academic and skill preperation for students to enter a college/university or other post-secondary school training. The addtion of the word, "PREPARATORY," (1981) in the school makes our students, staff, parents, and community even more responsible for our students' academic achievement and social development. to achieve this, our school must be academically focused, safe, and orderly for all. Therefore, everyone is expected to abide by and uphold the standards outlined and developed by the School Site Leadership Council.
With academic excellence as a major focus, students are to:
- come prepared for all classs with books, paper, pen, and other required materials;
- have all homework assignments completed (homework is assigned daily);
- take books home daily, including weekends and return to school daily with books and supplies.
- Spend two to three hours each day preparing homework and out-of-classroom projects;
- Work to achieve honor roll status (3.0 to 4.0 GPA)
- make all satisfactory grades in ork havits and cooperation which are most important to students' overall academic focus.
- have a book bag, briefcase, dictionary, thesaurus, and a novel for homeroom reading;
- remember that grades are issued three times each semester; students with 4.0 for the semester will receive a trophy and their names are placed in a drawing for a free airline ticket (Northwest).
- be eligible to participate in extra-curricular activies, by having: a 2.5 GPA and no more than 2 U's in cooperation (Students may be in activity classes, but may not perform unless eligible.)
