W&J's Co-Rookie of the Year, Mike is a tough forward with a wicked wrister, Heltman tallied first point in his first game with an assist vs. Villanova (9.26.08) in an 8-3 win at the Iceoplex at Southpointe. Scored his first collegiate goal at Buffalo (10.17.08) in a 6-4 win at the Amherst Pepsi Center. Scored twice in a 5-3 loss at West Virginia (10.24.08) at the Morgantown Municipal Center. Scored twice in a 9-3 win vs. #18 West Virginia at the Iceoplex at Southpointe (1.17.09). A tough player with a defensive mind, Heltman began the season on defense for the Presidents.

BEFORE WASHINGTON & JEFFERSON COLLEGE
Heltman played for Mars High School (PIHL). In his senior season (2007-08), helped lead Mars to the PIHL Penguin Cup Finals in which he scored a goal. Scored 30 goals and 24 assists for 54 points, leading Mars in scoring. Named to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's 2007-2008 Stellar 6 Squad. Named one of PA Hockey's Top 25 Players in Western PA high school hockey for the 2007-2008 season. Was a PIHL A All-Star his senior year at Mars, in which he scored two goals in that game.
