Naruto is actually still an on-going anime and manga in Japan, with Japan currently showing the eppisodes 50 and so and their manga currently at around book 21 or so. Naruto is a great series that you'll get into immediately.
The basic story line of Naruto revolves around a young 12 year old boy named Naruto who actually has the demon fox that almost destroyed his villiage 10 years ago trapped inside of him. Because of this, the adults despise him and the children, learning from their parents, don't like him as well. He comes off as a prankster and a show off who is always saying that he wants to be the next Hokage (the head ninja master of the entire villiage). This story follows him on his quest to become the Hokage and gain the respect of everyone in the villiage.
Sounds pretty Hollywood, huh? Well, it's much better than you think. Seriously. Naruto ends up in team 7, formed by a very smart and "beautiful" Sakura (who I find incredible annoying and useless), the #1 rookie and decendant of the Uchiha clan Sasuke, his Icha Icha (come come) Paradise reading teacher Kakashi, and himself. Through naruto's adventures, he gets to meet many other powerful and incredible ninjas such as Gaara of the Sand, Hyuga Neji, Hyuga Hinata, Rock Lee, Haku, Zabuza, and many more.
Sounds pretty typical, doesn't it? I thought so at first too, but once you watch/read it, it's hard to stop. The way the story line is set up just naturally makes you want to know more and more about the characters, the story, and even Naruto himself. So, check this series out. You won't be disappointed! ^^
