Episode 8
Snowball Fight!
(outside
by school busses)
Mrs. Suisho:
All right class. Please line up
so I can make sure everyone is here.
Noelle:
I’m so glad we are going on a school trip!
Tsuta: Since
we are going to be in the mountains, there might be snow. I hope so!
Kaigara:
Even better than snow, maybe there will be a unicorn! (Tsuta and Noelle have worried teardrops)
Tsuta: (to Noelle) She is a little obsessed with it,
don’t you think?
Mrs. Suisho:
Ok, please get on the bus now! (everyone gets on the bus and takes a seat. Kaigara is sitting behind Tsuta and Noelle)
Tsuta: I
brought some gloves, my scarf, coal, and some crackers.
Noelle: (giggling) Well, at least you didn’t forget to bring
your lunch!
Kaigara:
I made myself a special unicorn lunch!
(Tsuta and Noelle are quiet, but they have those worried drops again)
(bus
starts to leave)
Tsuta (voice): (mumbling) Noelle? Is that all she’s going to be talking about
the whole time???

(class
is outside in the snow)
Mrs. Suisho:
This particular plant likes the cold weather. That is why it has not died.
Dumb Student: What about those trees?
Mrs. Suisho:
Those are pine trees. They do not
die because of the cold either.
Another student: Mrs. Suisho?
Can we PLEASE have a snowball fight?
Mrs. Suisho:
That is another thing you must learn; children must enjoy their youth
while they still can. (leaves toward the cabin)
Class:
Yeah!
Tsuta:
Hey, Noelle! Look out! (Tsuta
throws a snowball at Noelle. Noelle
ducks and Kaigara gets it. Kaigara
brushes the snow from her eyes and runs to the cabin crying) Yeah!
Getting rid of her wasn’t as hard as I thought!
Noelle:
You should try to be a little nicer to her. (throws a snowball
at Tsuta; the two start throwing snowballs at each other until Noelle
accidentally throws one that hits Kanshin.)
Oops.
Kanshin:
Hey! Watch where you’re throwing
Noelle!
Noelle:
You know it was just an accident!
(starts angrily walking toward him) Don’t you make me mad…..
Kanshin:
Noelle, I’m not afraid of you. Go
ahead. Give me your best shot! (Noelle stops right in front of him)
Tsuta:
Let’s settle this with a snowball fight.
Kanshin:
A snowball fight? (looks behind him) Sounds good to me.
Raimei, Taiga, Sokudo, Yogo,
and I can beat you two with no problem!
Daraku:
Make that three.
Bunch of Girls (including Niji, Ichigo, Koneko,
and Shinpai) Oooooooo! Daraku is so cute! (they join him)
Kanshin:
Hey! That’s 5 against 7!
Tsuta:
Well, you certainly had no problem with 5 against 2.
Noelle:
Let’s get building! (scenes of everyone running around building two forts and
making snowballs. While Noelle is making
a snowball, Daraku walks by smiling at her.
Tsuta, who was watching, grins. More snow packing continues until everyone
seems ready. Noelle’s fort is big and
strong looking; Kanshin’s fort is small and it looks
like it could fall down anytime)
Kanshin:
You’re fort’s bigger than ours! That’s not fair!
Tsuta:
Well, you are the one who started it.
Kanshin:
Me??? Wasn’t it your idea?
Tsuta:
(blushing) Guess you’re right.
Let’s begin! (everyone
starts thowing snowballs around; Tsuta
complains) Come on! It’s 5 against 7! Noelle, what kind of snowball is that?
Noelle:
It’s just a snowball, Tsuta:
Tsuta:
Well, it needs to be bigger. We
can’t lose!
Noelle:
Tsuta, it’s just for fun. What’s
the big deal if we lose?
Tsuta:
(blushing) Um…well…(Noelle
looks up at her realizing something’s up)..well, you
see…while everyone was building the fort, Kanshin and I made a bet…
Noelle:
A bet? What kind of bet?
Tsuta: Well…if
we win, they promise to do our homework for us.
Noelle:
And if we lose?....
Tsuta: (smiling
innocently) Then we’ll have to do their homework for them!
Noelle:
(angrily, hand clenched in a fist) Tsuta…..!
Tsuta:
We’ll have to do chores for them as well.
Noelle:
(falls over surprisingly; gets up angrily) What!?
Tsuta:
It’s 5 against 7. We agreed that
would make up the difference.
Noelle:
Why didn’t you talk to us beforenad!
Tsuta: It
was a last minute decision….now get back to work!
Noelle:
(grumbling)
Sure….I’ll get back to work…(makes a really huge snowball)
Tsuta:
Noelle! That snowball is too
big! Come on now and make it ri…(snowball hits her face)
Noelle:
Don’t make bets behind someone else’s back, Tsuta!
Tsuta: I
was only trying to make it interesting you stupid friend! (both stare at each
other angrily. They continue fighting
and then start throwing snowballs at each other. By now, everyone has stopped, including
Kanshin and his team, to watch them fight) It’s not that big of a deal,
Noelle! (smacks
her with a snowball)
Noelle:
You never even asked us! You just
made an assumption! (throws
another snowball. They continue throwing
snowballs)
Daraku:
This snowball fight is going nowhere.
Kanshin: Well,
with those two out of the way, guess that makes us even…(a
snowball hits his face)
Girls on Noelle’s side: Ooooo! Good shot, Daraku! (Daraku grins proudly. A snowball hits his face. Kanshin grins and his team cheers. The fight continues)
****************************************************
(it’s
night time. Everyone is sleeping on the
floor in the cabin. Noelle gets up and
goes outside)
Noelle:
(looking at the stars; recalls the fight she had earlier) Tsuta…. (pauses for a moment. She
hears a flute playing in the background.
Noelle turns around)
Hmm?
**********************************************
(on
a rock by a cliff looking up at the sky, Daraku is playing a soft melody on his
flute)
Noelle:
Daraku? (Daraku stops and turns
around)
Daraku:
Hello, Noelle. What are you doing
up so late?
Noelle:
(cautiously joins Daraku on the rock) I was about to ask you the same
question.
Daraku:
Are you still mad at Tsuta?
Noelle:
Yeah…a little….
Daraku:
You should forgive her. She
didn’t mean anything.
Noelle:
Yeah, maybe you’re right….wait. (gets up angrily; pointing at Daraku) Why should I take advice from you???
Daraku:
As I said before, when I’m not Dark Star, we don’t have to be
enemies. (Noelle sits down on the rock)
Noelle:
That still doesn’t give me the right to trust you.
Daraku:
Noelle, to be honest, I like this form.
Noelle:
What do you mean?
Daraku:
I mean I like this life. I like
this freedom.
Noelle:
Freedom?
Daraku:
(staring at flute)
When I was Dark Star on Twilight, I had a lot of power. But when I came to Earth, I lost about half
of it. You see, the darkness in me was
not mine by choice. Having half of my
powers made me free of some of the darkness I possess. However, the more power you gain, the more
power I gain, so I do not know how long this will last. (silent for a moment
and looks at flute) I like playing my
flute because it makes me feel as if I was normal, that no evil runs through my
veins. I feel calm and peaceful when I
play.
Noelle:
(surprised and touched) I never realized that…so you can’t just turn
into Dark Star?
Daraku:
(shakes head) The main reason I
came to Earth was to kill Nova, but like the way you have your false life as
Noelle and you’re real life as Nova, I have my false life as Daraku and my real
life as Dark Star. Dark Star is my dark
side, and Daraku is light side. I can
only turn into Dark Star when darkness pervades light. For now, that does not happen too often.
Noelle: (worried
teardrop) (sarcastically) Oh…that makes me feel so much better….
Voice: I
thought I heard voices! (both turn around to see Tsuta. They get up quickly)
Tsuta:
(smirking) What
are you two doing up so late at night?
Noelle:
(embarrassed)
Well, I…
Daraku:
We were just talking…
Tsuta: (puts
her arms around him) Good, because I am the only one for you! Forever and ever! (Daraku tries to pry her off)
Noelle:
Tsuta? I’m sorry about what
happened today.
Tsuta: (letting go of Daraku) Yeah, me too. I know I shouldn’t have made that bet without
talking to everyone else first.
Noelle:
We’re just lucky Kanshin forgot about it! (giggles nervously)
Voice:
Actually, I did not forget. (all turn around to see Kanshin)
Kanshin:
We still have a fight to finish, Noelle.
Noelle:
Sure (she punches him; Kanshin goes flying in the night) That’s not fair! (voice trails off as he disappears) Well, that takes care of that! (all three turn
around and look up at the stars in the sky; smiling)
***************************************************
(night
time; back home; outside by the cabin practicing)
Tsuki: How was your field trip?
Nova: It
was ok I guess. (does
a high kick to the punching bag) I got
in a fight with my best friend.
Tsuki: Is
everything all right? (Stardust makes
four kicks to the punching bag)
Nova: We
made up. (Tsuki smiles; Nova kicks the
bag again) I talked to the untransformed
Dark Star.
Tsuki:
Hmmm?
Nova: He
said something about liking being human, but his human form does not exist.
Tsuki:
That’s because he is evil, pure evil.
He has one form and one form only.
His human form is just an image….of what he would have been if his heart
were not so black.
Nova:
But if he’s just an image, how come I’m not the only one to see him or
talk to him?
Tsuki:
His human form is an image to all humans. But in reality, he does not exist.
Nova:
(lightly kicks the bag) I sort of feel sorry for him.
Tsuki:
Me, too. But our duty is to
destroy Dark Star, and that is what we must do.
Nova: I
know. I just wish…there was some other
way…
Tsuki:
(smiles at Nova)
I do as well. Maybe there
is...(winking) we’ll just have to let destiny decide
on that. (the
two smile at each other and then continue with their Jewel training)
