It’s not the wait 
that bothers me at all
When I am waiting for 
the axe to fall

Siting in contemplation
of  impending doom
and my situation
There is no room 
for recrimination

I can sit and wonder
as I relive each moment
That led to my downfall
I can ponder
Where my mind went
or if I ever had one at all. . .
