Joe, Was A Friend of Mine

A simple note above the time clock
Sad faces all about
Some in shock
The news was out
as the realization set in
It was true, Joe was gone
Many already knew
We would all go on
I cannot begin to tell you
the difference he made
in the lives he touched
The children knew
he cared
but, never how much
He made a real difference at ole "53"
Where he made everyone see
our children can succeed.
Year after year
His proof was there
Joe was one of a kind
and proudly I can say
Joe was a friend of mine. . .

This poem was written in memory of Joe Altman, a good friend,
and an excellent educator. Joe died after a long battle with
prostate cancer. I know he is not suffering anymore and I am
happy to see he is out of pain. On the other hand, he will be
missed.
