Only two days left
to soak in nature's
bath of wild portrait.
Lodged in lush imagination
I poke poetic straw
deep into wilderness contentment
and suck the nectar
of wild flowers and dogwood
blossoms from these hills
of east Tennessee
storing memories to feed on
at future feasts.

I sit staring into infinity,
mountain range and ridge
stacked one against the other
leaning strong on time
like ancients, impressing
mind of poet writing.
Inspiration awesome to eye
and heart as "she" lingers
just out of sight stroking
strings of my heart, pen
glides across page of poem.
I pledge fidelity
to inspiring awe of eye
and the soft touch of "her" smile
from this porch of paradise.
