Venerable Phra Palad Yan Jong Khantipalo is the present Chief Abbot of Wat Buppharam, Penang, West Malaysia.
Venerable Phra Palad was born on April 8, in the year 1974 to a Thai Buddhist family in Kelantan. His father, Ehkiow and his mother's name is Mek Kechang. Before joining monkhood at the age of twenty three (1997) , he is known as Yan Jong.
He was first ordained by Phra Khru Suwanvudtikthon at Wat Kok Seraya Vanaram, Tumpat in Kelantan as a novice and on Oct 25, 1997, he entered monkhood under the following Dharma teachers: 1) Phra Khru Suwanvudtikthon (Preceptor) 2) Phra Baidika Lai Kaktakpunyo (Teacher) 3) Phra Samudee Panyadipo (Assistant Teacher)
Since he spent most of his early monkhood in Kelantan, he managed to seek further knowledge about Buddhist amulets from famous Buddhist Masters in Kelantan. Than Yong completed his highest Grade of the Royal Dharma Examination issued by the Director General of the Department of Religion Affairs and the Supervisor of Ecclesiastical Board of Dharma Education under the Royal Patronage of H.M. the King of Thailand in BE 2543 (2000).
Today, Than Yong is very famous for his Dharma knowledge and making good buddhist amulets. The temple is consistently swarmed with devotees seeking his Dharma advice and advice on buddhist amulets. |
