WolfBlades Story
My name is Puma, I am the Warden of the Dawn in the guild Phoenix.  Wolfblade has asked me to write his story for him as he is a modest soul.  For my part, I am happy to tell you of my friend.  We first met not long ago, although it seems as if we have known each other forever.  Let me start at the beginning.

I had been working with Talon on the guild policies, something for which I have little talent and even less patience, when Jelaina told me to "get out and kill something" before I drove her mad.  While not a violent man by nature, I have found that combat brings a soothing to a troubled mind, the purity of mortal danger leaves little room for troublesome thoughts.  Besides I had a new bow I was itching to try out.  Thus I found myself in the depths of the dungeon of Shame.

Everything was under control, no really it was.  Ok, well maybe not exactly under control, but I was doing fine.  Two earth elementals had decided to flex their muscles at me and I was doing a bit of flexing myself.  Suddenly the very walls themselves seemed to melt and at least a half dozen new elementals detached themselves from the earth.  I dismounted and set my faithful steed, Steel, to covering my flank.  This was a bit more relaxation than I really needed.

Just as soon as we had dispatched an elemental two more would sprout up.  It seemed that I had angered the lords of the deep with my bold assault.  It was not long before Steel was on the verge of collapse and I was bleeding profusely myself.  To make matters worse all the commotion had caught the attention of a couple of giant scorpions.  I had backed myself into a corner, thinking to cover my sides and now could not get out when suddenly I felt a sharp pain in my left thigh, one of the scorps had connected with its stinger.  My head felt light and dizzy, my stomach threatened to empty itself as my body was wracked with pain.  I fumbled for my bandages and dropped them to the ground.  It was not looking like the best day of my life, more like the last day of my life.  I knew that I could not keep this up.  The elementals were growling and snarling all around me, and the clash of swords against stone was deafening.

That is when it hit me.  I was using a bow, not a sword, and if my horse could wield a sword it was new to me.  Through the press of earthen bodies I saw a remarkable sight.  A warrior, sent by heaven he must have been, for this was certainly my hour of need.  Though it could have been the opposite for he fought like a demon.  His sword was a blur of silver lightning and when it contacted an elemental the roar was like thunder.  Chips of stone were flying off of the man like a maniacal stonemason at work, and elemental dust covered his face so thickly that it was hard to distinguish him from the enemies around him.  In less time than I thought possible he was at my side, I had managed to cure the poison coursing through my blood but was weakened beyond belief.  The stranger bandaged me with his left hand while he continued to fight with his right.

He finished with the aid and I must say it worked wonders, singlehandedly he had pulled my bacon out of the fire.  My trusty bow sang once again and another elemental, the last of them went down.  Now it was just the two remaining scorps.  As the elemental fell, this remarkable stranger stepped up onto its back, vaulted over steel and landed, impaling a scorp with his deadly blade.  He followed through with his jump, and rolled  into a crouch, with the words of a spell on his lips.  As he rose to his feet a spark jumped from his fingers and quickly expanded into a full fledged fireball as it sped towards the last scorpion, to connect at the same time as my last arrow.

In the dank gloom of the dungeon, surrounded by the remains of our combat, the stranger and I faced each other.  "Thanks for the help my friend", I said to my rescuer, "I'm Puma".

"Glad to meet you", the man said as he cleaned his sword with a practiced flourish.  Noting my gaze on his sword he added, "my father gave me this sword, a long time ago.  It is as dear to me as my life."

"Who are you", I asked?  "You are like a wolf with that blade"!

The stranger, now a friend, extended his hand in friendship, and as we shook hands replied, "Just a man looking for a new beginning", he said.  "Wolfblade, just call me Wolfblade".

"A new beginning eh", I said.  "Man have I got a guild for you".
