Dreamtime in the USVI's

4/30/2006 through 5/3/2006:  USVI’s Made the sail over from the Spanish Virgins to St. Thomas in just a few hours.  Scott Free had just caught up to us after their transmission problems and we all dropped the hook in Elephant Bay, on the west side of Water Island.  After checking out the Crown Bay Marina facilities, which include a “to die for” gourmet grocery store, we catch a bus up to the discount liquor store to stock up on various rums which are produced in the area.  A K-Mart presented itself, so we had a bit of a shop there as well.

We decided to head over to the harbor of Charlotte Amalie for the evening and most likely the rest of our stay - not going to be here long, too crowded and touristy.  The harbor is quite beautiful at night though, with all the houses on the hills. The next day we headed in to the straw market where I had a lovely look-see and bought a cute little outfit.  We had a nice lunch in town then headed back out to the harbor where we met up with s/v Navy Blue, who just finished the southern Caribbean and were headed up towards the Bahamas.  A chart exchange ensued…

That evening we got together for drinks with Natalie and Luis onboard s/v Vagamundo.   A very nice, young Columbian couple who highly recommend Cartegena as a stop on our westward passage.
