The Talassociclo (this means sea-bike)
was designed as a leisure boat, for recreational use and fast tours.
She was designed for cruising confortably at six knots on the long distance, but with a
particular attention to easiness of use and safety.
It is therefore very easygoing: it takes just a few minutes (and no tools) from the shore (or the car) to the water, has kick-up devices for easy beach starts and nobody has never had any difficulties in handling her in the water within seconds.
Anyway, she proved herself to be pretty fast: she won the Long Distance Race at the World Human Powered Vehicle Championship 1999 in Interlaken. The boat that got the second place arrived about ten minutes later.
We were surprised in watching famous boats coming along after thirty minutes and more, while we were eating our lunch after the arrival. Look at the results page of the Championship!
