COOLANT SYSTEM FLUSH AND FILL
Here is how I flushed my coolant system for my Toyota Tacoma 2.7L. You will need to 4 gallons of distilled water. You can pick these up by the gallon at walmart for .57 a gallon. Also 1 gallon of radiator fluid. First things first MAKE SURE THE ENGINE IS COOL BEFORE WORKING ON IT.
Remove the radiator cap. Next take off the skid plates. I am not going to go into detail on how to take the skid plates off. If you can't figure this out, you might want to have the dealer change your coolant. Next you will see on the passenger side of the radiator the drain plug.
You will notice the drain plug has a spicket on it. If you don't want to make a mess you can use can use some tube to direct the flow of the coolant. I had laying around some left over 1/4 rubber fuel line when I extended my rear diff breather, and it worked great.
You will need some pliers to turn the drain plug; you might want to be careful when doing this. The drain plug is plastic and it might break. Also if you notice in the picture there is radiator fluid all over the place. Well this is because I loosened the plug too much and it fell off, letting radiator fluid go everywhere. You are just going to have to guess how far you can loosen the plug before it comes out. Once the fluid has been drained you can move onto the engine block drain plug. You will need a 10mm socket to loosen the bolt, and guess what? It also has a spicket if you have a tube to hook up to it.
Loosen the bolt till fluid starts to drain out. There is not going to be much that comes out. Next tighten the drain plugs. I just used my hand since you are going to be loosening them up in a second. Take the bracket off that holds the battery.
Now you will need to take the reservoir out which it just slides up and out.
Empty the fluid and put the reservoir back in. Now you are ready to fill the radiator with distilled water.
It should take almost 2 gallons to fill the radiator. Once filled you will want to run turn the truck on leaving the radiator cap off. You will also need to turn the heat on. The way my Haynes manual says is to leaving the truck running until the top radiator hose gets hot, and that’s what I did. Now you can wait till the truck is cool to drain the water out, or just be careful and drain it now. Most of the water will still be cool until it is almost drained. Drain the water in the same procedure as above. Next you will want to refill the radiator one last time with distilled water and run the truck again and drain just like you just did. Now you are ready to add radiator fluid. You will want to pour in a 50/50mix of radiator fluid and distilled water. Also you want to fill the reservoir tank up to the low level mark. Once filled put the radiator cap back on and you are pretty much done. After driving the truck and when it is cool, open the radiator cap back up and fill if needed. No more paying Toyota $70.00 to change my coolant system.
ELECTRIC FAN INSTALL
Here is how I installed my electric fan. This is where I got the fan. It is a proform 16inch fan, putting out 2100cfm's at 9amps. I paid $67.00 out the door for the fan. The install was not that hard, to me the hardest part was wiring it up. Alright time for the install. First start by spraying the 4 bolts holding the clutch fan with some PB Blaster, or WD40. If you have not already done so remove the skid plates. On the fan shroud there are two metal clips, one on each side holding the bottom shroud.
Take the clips off and the bottom shroud should come out. Next remove the two top bolts.
