Computer Aided Design is the digital drawing technique known also as Geometric Construction as it takes full advantage of geometric objects.

Drawing a cog wheel of a set radius with a given number of teeth.

  1. Disable the Snap To tools.
  2. Select the Circle centre and point.
  3. Define the centre point of the circle or enter the data in the Coordinates Bar ( x=5.5, y=4 ).
  4. Click on the spot and drag to find the second point on the circle's circumference or put in Radius 2.5 in in the Edit Bar and click Enter.
  5. Select Multiline Tool and type CTRL R to activate the Coordinates Bar and press Tab to go from X to Y. Type in x=5.25 and y=6.5 as the starting point of the first tooth of the cog wheel. Continue with x=5.4 y=7 x=5.6 y=7 x=5.75 y=6.5
  6. Right click for Local Menu and select Finish.
  7. Click on Mouse Pointer and from View/Toolbars/Desktop choose the Copy Toolbar.
  8. Select the first tooth on the circle.
  9. From the Copy Toolbar select Radial Fit Copy. The Status Bar will prompt you to define the centre of the copy process.
  10. Enter the same coordinates as in the first circle ( x=5.5, y=4 ).
  11. Type 20 in Sets on the Edit Bar.
  12. Define the angle (360) to fit the copies in and press

Press enter to see the cog wheel take shape.

You may use the same routine to draw the yellow stars of the blue EU flag.
