Drawing a 1cm grid in PAINT
1. From Start/Programs/Accessories chose PAINT to load the program.
2. The canvas size (the white working area) will be the same as the last time you used PAINT.
3. We need to resize the canvas.
|
|
4. The canvas size has become very small - only 1cm x 1cm.
5. To be able to work in comfort we use the Magnifier to enlarge the canvas by 6 times, from the Option Box underneath the Tool Box.
6. From the Menu/View click on Zoom and chose View Grid. The grid that you can see represents all the pixels of the canvas.
7. From the Tool Box select the Rectangle tool and chose the outline only option.
8. Draw a square that encloses the whole area of canvas.
9. Use the magnifier to reduce the view back to x1.
We have drawn a 1cm square in spite of the programme not having a ruler. By copying and pasting the square we can make up a grid of 1cm to fill any area of canvas. |
|
1. Resize the canvas, as we did in step 3 above, to 15x10cm.
2. Click on the Magnifier to zoom to x6.
3. Use the Rectangular Selection tool to select the 1cm square.
4. From the Main Menu/Edit click Copy and Main Menu/Edit click Paste.
5. The pasted copy is already selected so move the mouse inside it and drag the square to position next to the first one overlapping the outlines.
6. Now select both squares and Copy and Paste.
7. Move the selection to form 4 squares.
8. Now copy and paste the 4 squares and go on to form a grid to cover the whole canvas.
Look at the 3D Greek design below and copy it on your grid using the Fill bucket tool to give colour to the individual squares. Use the Line tool to draw diagonal lines, in order to separate colours in the same square, |
