"Okay, Jake. I'm sorry. I will be careful. BUT PLAESE go see Abbey and don't worry about getting back here at a certain time. I will probably just go to bed and sleep till morning. I can't get that radio spot done and on that plane fast enough." I grinned. Jake reached over and ruffled my hair. "That's better. I just found you, I don't wanna lose you already.." Jake kissed my cheek and gathered up his things. I walked him to the door and locked it behind him. Then I went into my room, combed my hair out and brushed my teeth. I sat down on the couch in the entertainment area and channel surfed until I fell asleep. A couple hours later my phone rang. Taylor was so sweet, apologizing for waking me up and telling me how much he missed me and couldn't even try to sleep unless he heard my voice. He told me he hoped the radio spot went ell, but it couldn't be over fast enough for him, because then I would be on my way to him. "I will see you a liitle while after you get in, Jess. Jake let me know where you were going to be staying, so I will meet you there as soon as I can get everything taken care of here. I can't wait baby, I miss you so much." he said. "I know Tay. I miss you, too. Tomorrow, baby. Then I get to hold you again." "I love you, Jessie. Sweet dreams.." "I love you, too, Taylor. Sleep well, baby." "G'nite Jess." "Nite Tay." I flipped the phone shut and went into my room. I climbed into bed and pulled the covers up around me, noticing how big and empty it seemed without him next to me. "Tomorrow," I sighed to myself. I rolled on my side pulled the other pillow to my chest and fell asleep. |
I woke with a start. Monday. Radio spot and then going to Tay. I jumped out of bed and into the shower, washing quickly and getting myself dressed. Thank god radio doesn't require you to dress for the occasion. Who the hell is gonna see you? The DJ? Big freaking deal. I threw on my hip hugging painter pants, balck leather belt, balck shoes and a black spaghetti tank. I put my locket and ring on, and then dried my hair and left my make up to nothing but lipgloss and mascara. I went to my room and made sure my bag was ready to go, then went in search of some coffee. I found Jake, phone glued to his ear, pouring coffee and looking through papers in his leather folder. He saw me and smiled, waving me to him. "Hey she's up and dressed, Tay. Wanna talk to her?...Yeah...ok...sure thing, man. Yup..here she is." Jake handed me the phone and a cup of coffee. "Thanks, Jakey.." I said, "Hello Tay..." "Hi Jessie. I just wanted to tell you I love you and that I can't wait till tonight baby." "Thanks Tay. I love you too..so what are you and Jakey up to?" I asked. "What do you mean?" He asked innocently. "You know what I mean.." I teased. "You called my cell phone the last few times we've talked and now all of a sudden you're calling me on Jake's?' "Hey can't a guy see what's going on with his future brother in law? I heard he had a date last night and besides, I couldn't get you..you were in the shower.." he defended himself. "Okay. I'll buy that... I can't get through this day fast enough. I'll see you tonight, then?" I asked. "For sure, Jess. As soon as I can get away..." he said softly. |
Tay and I said our goodbyes and hung up. I turned to Jake. "Soooo..how was your date with Abbey anyway?" I asked, taking another sip of my coffee. "We had a nice time, Jess." was all he said, but he was grinning like the cat that ate the canary. "Well? WHAT?" I urged with my hand on my hip. "Whaddaya mean, WHAT?" he taunted. "JAKE!" "Okay,okay...she's coming to visit as soon as we get settled.." he smiled. "JAKEY! That's so great..." I hugged him and kissed his cheek. "Thank you, but settle down. I don't want to rush her." he said. "Okay, but I am still excited for you..." "Yeah,yeah..hurry up and eat Jess. We've got things to do." We sat and ate breakfast, quickly, but enjoying each other's company. Of course, Jake hauled out his to-do list and we went over it together. We finished up, gathered our things, checked out and were off. We got most everything done before lunch, so we stopped and had a nice one at the place Tay and I had met Jake for breakfast the other day. We ran around town after and finished up our to-do list including Jake turning his truck over to the guy who bought it. We took a cab from there to the radio station, making our way quickly into the studio after letting the receptionist know we were there. We stood outside the big glass window that let us see into the studio and watched Drew do part of his show. He went to a break and motioned us in. |
"Hey Drew, how's it going?" I said as he opened the door for me. "Hey yourself! Miss `I might not win..' Congratulations, Jessie." he gave me his trademark goofy grin. "Hey Drew," Jake greeted him, "I told ya.." he was grinning too. "OH stop it now boys..yer makin' me blush.." I teased and gave Drew a light tap on the arm. "Hey, nice rock.." he was looking at my left hand, I groaned and then sighed. "Thanks.." "Do I get the scoop then?" he wiggled his eyebrows at me, "After all.." "Only if you don't make to big a deal out of it..I'm here to talk about the competition.." I said. Jake put his hand on my shoulder, "Easy girl...that's what I'M here for.." he said in my ear. I looked over my shoulder at him and smiled. "Okay, Jessie..." Drew reluctantly agreed. Jeff's voice came over he speaker from the control room. "In 15 seconds guys.." Drew gave an OK signal. "Here we go kids.." He launched into his DJ auctioneer type spiel, introducing Jake and me and giving us a warm welcome. He congratulated me on winning the competition and asked what was next. Jake explained the we would be relocating and continuing on with the competitions. "Jess has been working really hard and she should make it all the way to Fitness America and then, depending on how she feels about competing by then, Fitness Universe." Jake looked at me. |
