We went into the kitchen and I motioned for Taylor to sit down.
"Need some coffee, baby?" I asked. "I think I do.."
"Sure, Jess...hey you better eat something too.." he said. I turned quickly to look at him. I didn't hear the usual kidding tone in his voice that he used when discussing my appetite.
"I don't really feel all that hungry, Tay, but if you're hungry I'll fix something." I told him.
" I am kind of..but I don't want you to go to any trouble." he said.
"Tay, you have to eat if you're hungry and it's nice to cook for someone besides myself, silly. I could live on protien shakes when I'm here alone..'
I began taking things out of the fridge and the cupboards and made us some breakfast, it seemed right, being 2 o'clock in the morning. My schedule could throw anybody's body clock off.
We ate and talked some more and Taylor helped me clean up after. We went into the living room, Taylor turned on the stereo and I sat down on the couch.
"Oh my gosh, Tay! Look! I remember closing that door and locking it behind us, don't you?" I asked.
My front door was slightly ajar. Not enough to be considered open, but not shut tightly, and I could tell that the lock mechanism was turned to the locked position, but the door was not closed enough for it to click shut.
"I tried to make sure I did, Jess. Maybe I didn't push it closed hard enough, " he said as he strode over and shut it tightly.
He walked back over to me and sat down next to me. We cuddled up on the couch and listened to the music for a while, until I let out a yawn that I couldn't control.
"Come on, Jessie. Let's go to bed, you're tired." he said and took my hand.
I put my hand in his and followed him into the bedroom. Taylor switched on the light and pulled the covers on the bed back.  I moved around the room making sure there was nothing in the way from the bedroom the bathroom, then I went into the bathroom, picked up the towels from the floor and threw the in the hamper and shut the lid. I came back into the bedroom and found Taylor looking like he was searching for something.
"What's the matter, Tay?" I asked.
"When we came in I saw you put your necklace down right here on the dresser right? I wanted to move it, so I could put my small bag here...but when I looked..it was gone again. Am I crazy? Or did you put it down somewhere else?" he asked dumbfounded.
"I don't remember Tay..I really don't...maybe I stuck it in my purse?" I offered and went to look. Nothing.
"Not there, baby. Damn!" I sighed, "but I'm tired, now. We'll find it when we get up, ok? I'm sure it's around here somewhere..hell we just had it! We'll look later." I said and made my way to the bed. Taylor sighed and follwed, sliding right up next to me under the covers. He pulled them up and over our shoulders and wrapped his arms around me. I turned to him and pressed myself against his chest. He kissed me sweetly and said, "Nite, Jessie..I can't wait to wake up in your arms."
I kissed him in reply. "Me either," I murmured and stroked his hair back from his face.
We didn't sleep as long as we should have. I was awakened by the sound of the phone ringing. I rolled over slowly trying not to wake up Tay as I reached for the phone.
"Hello?" I asked grumpily.
"Jess..it's Eric..."
"What?" I snapped.
"What's wrong with you?" he snapped back.
"I was sleeping..I wanna go back to sleep..I told you I was taking the weekend off...what do you want?"
"I just wanted to tell you about the choreographer you'll be working with..she'll be here Monday so don't be late.. I tried calling you last night but your BOYFRIEND" and he slurred the word as an insult "wouldn't let me talk to you."
"DAMMIT! His name is TAYLOR and yes he told me you called, but I didn't want to call you back right then. He just got here and I had to fix a machine. I would have called you when I woke up. Quit acting like such a baby...god! You don't get paid to run my personal life...I will be on time Monday..I'm going to go back to sleep..GOODBYE Eric..why don't YOU take the weekend off..you act like you need to." I said angrily and hung up the phone. I rolled toward Tay to snuggle up to him and go back to sleep, but he was staring at me when I faced him.
"Jessie..are you sure Eric's interest in you is just professional? I mean..damn... he doesn't leave you alone for a second...and I could swear we were being followed last night, but I'm used to that, rag photographers, you know..but there's just something..." he looked at me
questioningly for a long time. I was speechless. What he was saying to me seemed so ridiculously impossible, but if he was that concerned...
"That thought completely floors me, Tay...I mean if he was INTERESTED in me...he would have done something about it along time ago..I have known him for a couple of years...I don't think so. I just think he is worried about the size of his bank balance. Even if he was, nothing could tear me away from you. I LOVE YOU." I said forcefully.
And kissed him deeply to prove it. He snaked his arms up around me and held me close.
"I love you, Jessie...but that guy makes me worry about you. The rest of the time he just makes me mad. I want you to be careful around him, Jessie, I mean it. I don't like the way he talks to you. Granted, you put him in his place pretty well..." and he chuckled then. "But I am afraid he will lose his temper and hurt you. If he does, I'll have to kill him." he said fiercely.
"Taylor, he will NOT hurt me..even if he does lose his temper..I'm his damn meal ticket...don't worry baby. The competion is only a couple of months away, if that...I'd have to check to be sure..but I have to keep him until then. Once that's over I will look for new sponsorship and a new trainer, maybe Jakey wants a career change...will that make you feel better?" I asked.
"I don't want you to change everything just because I'm in the picture now, Jess. I just don't want you to get hurt."
"Well, silly, everything HAS changed, but for the better and I will do just what I said..I promise. I just need to keep him through this show." I said with a smile. "I just don't want you to worry about me, Tay..you have enough to worry about."
"Well, it does make me feel better.." he grinned.
"Ok then, that's settled." I stated and rolled on top of him and brushed his hair back.
"Now, what are we going to do TODAY?" I asked.
He flipped me over and kissed me. "I know what I WANT to do right now," he said with a wicked grin.
"Oh really? And what might that be?" I asked innocently.
"How 'bout I just show you...." he murmured and pulled the covers up around us and kissed me again.
