JESSIE: Damn! I couldn't believe I was being blackmailed by my own husband. I didn't want to stay in the stupid hospital, where all I could see were the awful memories of the police taking Taylor away, screaming for someone to let me out so I could get to him. I folded my arms across my chest and then winced, wanting to kick myself, but that would probably hurt my foot. "I'll have mom bring you some stuff from home Jess. You won't wanna wear that stuff again." Taylor said, trying to console me all of a sudden. But as I looked at my things, I realized he was right. Everything was covered with blood. "I'll be right back, baby. I'm gonna go call her." he said and disappeared. "Okay, Jess. The nurse will be in to show you to your room in a minute." Dr. West said with a small smile. "I realize WHY you don't want to stay here again, Jessie." he said understandingly. "But for BABY'S sake I really want you to be here. Last time was close, and I can tell from looking at you, you haven't gained enough bodyfat. All this stress is bad for peanut. Okay?" he waited for my answer. I nodded. "Good girl. Your husband loves you very much, Jess. I can see by the way he looks at you. He is worried. You don't want him to woryy that much while he's away do you?" he asked. I shook my head no. "Be good then and do what I tell you and what the nurses tell you and you can go home in the morning, Okay?" he asked again. "Okay." I answered, then smiled slightly. "See you in a bit, Jess." he smiled back and left the room. Tay was back in a flash. "Mom is getting your stuff together and she'll be right over. Lacey has the kids and Jake is moving Watts luggage into the house right now." he said almost in one breath. "Oh no. Tay. I don't want Watts to spend the night there alone.." I worried. "She's not. She's gonna stay with Lace tonight, then come with Jake to take you home in the morning." he said. "Oh, alright." I answered, then laid my head on his chest when he sat down next to me. "No fair blackmailing me into staying here." I teased. "I was completely serious, Jess. If anything ever happened to you two." I looked up to see tears in his eyes. "Oh Tay! I'm so sorry baby.." I threw my arms around his neck and held him tight, despite the excruciating pain in my arm. "I'm just glad you're alright," he said and then grinned down at me, "AND that I forgot my notebook." "Me too." I grinned back. "Oh speaking of notes.." I caressed his cheek, "I did get a chance to read yours." I kissed his cheek. Then my stomach growled. "I was in the process of fixing myself something to eat when...well..I haven't eaten yet today." I told him. "We'll take care of that right now.." he started to get up, but the nurse came in to take me to my room upstairs. Taylor insisted on pushing my wheelchair, which aggravated the nurse, but he was persuasive and he got his way. I was settled into my room in no time and than Tay made sure she knew that someone better bring me some food soon. She huffed out of the room, leaving Tay and I smirking, until she was completely gone. Then we burst into laughter. |
TAYLOR: When Jess and I had both gotten our fit of giggles under control, I sat down on the bed next to her and put my arm around her, being careful not to put any pressure on her sore arm. She laid her head on my chest and her sore arm across my waist. I traced the bandage that now covered it, lightly with my fingertip. "I really am sorry you have to fly out of here instead of being with you brothers and Daddy." she said softly, slipping her hand up underneath the thin fabric of the tank top I was wearing. "it's alright Jessie. I'll still be getting in same time they do, and I don't want to leave you until I know you're really okay." I told her. "I AM Tay. Just a little sore, and pissed about the scar that's going to be on my arm, unless my idea works." she grinned up at me. "What idea?" I asked, thinking she'd tell me now. "It's a surprise." she said and dropped the subject. The nurse came in with a tray of food and some pain pills for Jess. "Thank you." I told her and took it, setting it where Jess could reach to eat. The nurse looked annoyed at me. "You have to excuse him." Jessie giggled. "He's going out of town tonight. He's overprotective, but usually not this bad." The nurse stared at her, then me, then smiled back at Jess and left the room with a smirk as I raised my eyebrow at Jess. "Just eat, Jess." I grinned. I pulled the chair close to the edge of her bed and sat down. I wound up feeding her most of her meal, because her arm was sore. My mother came in with Jess' bag, made a huge fuss over her and rambled on about making sure the mess at the house was undetectable by the time she got home in the morning. Lacey and Watts showed up not long after my mother left and stayed a while, then left when Jess shifted uncomfortably and yawned. I climbed up on the bed next to her, settled her against my chest and held her. We talked for quite a while and then we both fell asleep until Jake made his appearance with my plane tickets. He went out of his way to reasuure me that he ripped security a new asshole and that he would make sure Jessie got home alright in the morning. The nurse came in to check on Jess again, and Jake left when she did. Jess and I ate dinner together and watched a little more TV while we talked, the nurse for the next shift introduced herself, checked Jess again and then disappeared. Jess seemed to be perfectly fine, except her sore foot and arm, which were minor as far as she was concerned. I got up on the bed with Jess again and wrapped my arms around her, dreading leaving in a couple of hours. |
TAYLOR: Dr. West came in one more time and looked Jess over, then unhooked her monitors. "I won't make you sleep with them on, Jess. It's uncomfortable, but I'll want to put you back on them for a bit, first thing in the morning, okay?" he said. She nodded and shifted a bit as I leaned forward and took her hand. "How's the foot?" he asked. "Sore as hell, but I'll live." she answered. "Arm?" he asked. "On fire, but bearable." she answered. He sighed, and wrote something on her chart. "You can have something for pain, Jessie. Just ask the nurse. It won't hurt anything, and you'll probably sleep better." he told her. "If I need it I know where the buzzer is. Don't worry." she grinned. "Have a good trip, Taylor. Jess, REST. I will see you in the morning." We thanked the doctor and then I climbed back up on the bed with Jessie. "You really should take the pain pill Jess. Please? For me?" I batted my eylashes at her. She chuckled and patted my stomach. "Jeez Tay, that's so attractive. How can I refuse? Could you hand me that water so I don't have to move my arm?" I did as she asked and watched her take the pill that she had set aside earlier. "Thank you, baby. I'll feel better, now." I grinned. "I'm gonna go insane on that flight you know. I'd rather stay and take you home in the morning." I told her and caressed her cheek. "I WANT you to take me home, Tay." she grinned and snuggled into my chest. "But you may never leave the house again.." she raised her eyebrow. "Okay Jess.." I laughed, "WHO is like the energizer bunny now? All bruised and sore and STILL..." "Damn right. I'm gonna miss you, Tay. Wanna love you all I can before I have to make due with phone calls and quick trips here and there." she said softly. "I know babe. But I want you to stay as long as possible when you do join us." I told her and gave her a squeeze. "I love you, Tay." |
