Jake just shook his head.
"Did you tell him?" he asked me. I nodded and smiled, seeing the smile spread across Taylor's face.
"Yeah, man. That's awesome. I'm sorry about your Mom, though." Tay said to him.
"Aww, it's okay. I still got a baby sister to look out for." he grinned at me, he was tipsy. I giggled. "I'm no baby, buster! I can look out for myself. But you're kinda ok to have around... hey, who're you here with?" I asked him.
"Just some guys I used to work with, I think Watts is around here somewhere, too." he said. "She's with her trainer and some other girl.."
"Oh! I'll have to make sure and see her before I leave..." I said.
"Watts?" Tay asked.
"Yeah, she's competing next week in Detroit, too. She's cool, and she'll give me a run for my money.." I said.
"Jeez! Jess. I don't think she was kidding when she said she'd have to get used to the idea of second place.." Jake said.
I rolled my eyes, "How's that for sibling loyalty?" I giggled and took another sip of my drink. Tay squeezed my hand and we chatted with Jake a while longer, then Jake got up to rejoin his friends. As Jake walked away I looked into Tay's eyes, they were so blue and beautiful, I thought about how I'd love to just stare into them forever. He leaned into me and kissed me, sweetly and thoroughly. I leaned into him and lost myself in his kiss, wanting it to last as long as I wanted to look into his eyes. We broke apart at the sound of someone clearing their throat. I looked up from Tay to see Watts standing there with a big dorky grin on her face. "Hey, Jess. Sorry to interrupt..."
"Yeah, right Watts." I interrupted her smiling. "How's it going?" I asked .
"Good, Jess." she answered and I hurriedly introduced her to Taylor.
"Taylor, this is Robin Watson...Watts..Taylor Hanson."
"Hi." Taylor said standing and shaking her hand. He motioned her to sit down. She pullled the chair next to me out and planted herself in it.
"Nice to meet you Taylor. I'm glad your new album is doing so well. I like this one.." she said to him.
"Thanks."
She turned to me, "Jake said you were here so I thought I'd come over and say hi...and wish you luck next week. I'm sure you won't need it. But I can see that you are BUSY.." she giggled.
"Oh brother! Knock it off Watts.." I giggled. "Good luck to you, too." I said. She stood to leave and Tay stood with her, shaking her hand again. "Nice seeing you, I imagine I'll see you next week in Detroit?" she asked and Taylor nodded. "You said we'd get together, Jess. Looking forward to it." she said to me.
"You bet, me too. See ya.." I said and turned back to Taylor, taking his hand. I picked up my drink and downed the rest of it. I was feeling pretty mellow now, so I leaned against Taylor, resting my head on his shoulder. The band played for a while, then they started a slow song.
"Dance with me, Jess." Tay said in my ear and pulled me out of my chair and on to the dance floor, wrapping his arms around me and pulling me close to him. I put my arms around his neck, not only to hold him, but for balance. I was tipsy. I heard Taylor chuckle and I looked up into his eyes. He smiled down at me and stroked my cheek. "You okay baby?" he asked.
"If I'm not, whose fault is it?" I teased. He chuckled again. "Mine I suppose," he said, "Did my evil scheme work? Are you drunk enough for me to take advantage of?" he grinned
"Yup! But you wouldn't be taking advantage, you dork. I'd have let you have your way with me anyway.." I giggled and then tilted my head up and kissed him, snaking my tongue into his mouth and out again before he knew what hit him. I let my fingers play with the hair that brushed the collar of his shirt. He smiled that gorgeous smile again and kissed the top of my head.
The band started palying a fast song, very dancable, but I hadn't heard it before. I grabbed Taylor's hand and turned my back to him, pulling his arm around me and wiggling my backside, before turning back to him, smiling seductively. "C'mon, baby.." I teased. "You dance with me now.." He pulled me close to him and placed his knee between mine. He put one hand in the center of my back and one down low on my waist. He leaned into me and I let my arms fall to my sides, letting him balance me as we danced. He lowered his head to kiss my neck. I let my head fall back and savored the feel of his lips on my neck. I pulled my head back up and gave him a sly smile.
"Ok, Jess. Time to call it a night..." he said in my ear and grabbed my hands, pulling me off the dance floor. He led me back to our table, where more drinks were waiting. "Jessie....I'll be right back, okay? I won't be long.." he said and disappeared into the crowd. I drank half my drink waiting for him and I looked around at the people in the place.
Everyone seemed to be having a good time. I spotted Tay, near the men's room, talking to Jake. I smiled, glad that they liked each other. I grabbed my drink and took a couple more sips, watching the dancers. Suddenly, both Taylor and Jake were standing in front of me. Taylor's eyes were sparkling and he was smiling, as was Jake.
"Jessie! I was kidding! That's your third one...am I gonna have to carry you up the stairs?" Taylor laughed.
"Nope! I am just fine thankyouverymuch." I giggled. "I got bored waiting for you Mr. `I'll only be a minute'.."
"I'm sorry, Jess. I ran into Jake and we were talking." they looked at each other and grinned. Both of them looked like the cat who ate the canary. "What are you two up to?" I asked getting to my feet. I wobbled a bit and Taylor steadied me.
"We aren't up to anything, Jess. Why would you ask a question like that?" Taylor said feigning innocence.
Jake just laughed.  "Better get some coffee in her, quick man."
"I don't need coffee you goofballs, but I am ready to go home, Tay. We'll se you at lunch tomorrow right, Jakey?" I asked.
"Yup! I'll be there.." he said nd ruffled my hair and kissed my cheek.
"Jake!" I huffed, smoothing my hair down, "I just found an annoying brother habit of yours..."
He just laughed and ruffled my hair again. I rolled my eyes at him. "See you tomorrow, Jake."
"Later, guys." he waved at me as Taylor ushered me to the door. He stopped to pay the bill and then led me outside. He helped me into the car and got in on his side, started the car and took my hand. I scooted closer to him, and laid my head on his shoulder. We got back to the apartment and Taylor helped me up the stairs. We got insid eand Taylor locked the door behind him and threw the keys on the counter. "You tired, Jess?" he asked.
"Nope!" I giggled. "Turn the stereo on, Tay."
He chuckled and did as I asked. He put on a CD that I had, but I couldn't remember where I got it or who it was. It was a good one. Taylor came to me and put his arms around me, kissing my cheek.
"You're drunk, Jess." He laughed, as I kicked of a shoe and had to grab on to him for balance.
"I most certainly..am...not." I said kicking off the other shoe and hanging on to his arm again.
He threw his head back and laughed again. "Yes you are. And you are too cute.." he kissed my cheek again.
"Oh yeah?"  I asked defiantly. "I'll show you how drunk I'm NOT." I said and turned the stereo up. A cool beat came blasting out of the speakers. Kind of 70's with alot of electric guitar and drums.
