"Hey...listen..." Taylor said to Ike as they started up the driveway, both juggling bags of food and a tray of coffee. "Yeah...was Patti coming this early?" Ike looked around, "I don't see her car. And believe me you'd NOTICE it." Ike grinned. "It's a classic. I dunno if Zac was droolin' harder over her or the car." he joked. "Nope. I don't think the other girls start showing up until really late. They all have jobs and stuff." Tay answered, then banged twice on Jamie's door. "She's not gonna hear.." Taylor muttered and pushed the door open, letting himself and his brother in. They grinned in amazement as they saw Jamie, seated at her keyboards, and Jade, freshly showered seated on the stool acroos from Jamie. They were concentrating on whatever it was they were working on so hard that they didn't even notice the men had entered the room. Ike sucked in his breath as he watched them, Jade bent over her guitar, her hair swung over one shoulder and her tattoo clearly visible on her lower back. He listened to her blend her voice with Jamies and was completely blown away. He looked over at his brother, who was having a similar reaction to watching Jamie lose herself. Both grinned even wider and waved at the other to be quiet, and they continued to listen. Eventually, they hit a rough spot and Jamie swore loudly. " AWWW FUCK IT!!" and she whipped her pen across the room. "Sorry Jadeleigh...that was all me, babe.." she said and ran her hand through her hair, then tucked it behind her ears. Taylor and Isaac both looked down at their feet, trying not to laugh or interrupt their process. Jamie sighed loudly. "Wanna try again? Or are you needin' a break?" she asked her friend, both still unaware the men were in the room. "One more time, Jameson. I think it was me, not you.." Jade answered and looked her friend in the eye. "Kay.." Jamie answered and taped out the time on the bench. Jade began to play again and then Jamie joined in. When they began to blend their voices, both Taylor and Ike came quite close to losing their composure. Ike was so completely amazed by Jade's hidden talent, he thought he'd be jello for the rest of his life. Not only that, he needed to adjust the way he was standing, so as not to give away the fact that if she made on overture toward him, he'd lose his reputation for being a perfect gentleman. Taylor was off in jamie-la-la land himself, and watching her as she sang, he could see why Tay was so head over heels for her. Her passion for music matched Taylor's. Ike kept watching, wondering what it would be like to run his tongue over the design of that tattoo on Jade's lower back, and berating himself for the thoughts at the same time. After all, she and Josh had only had another argument, not actually broken up. Still all he could think about was waking up to her singing in the shower, or sitting around playing music with her, showing her more ways to make the sounds she wanted come out of that guitar. He thought about the kiss they'd shared the other night, and desperately wished he could kiss her again. Just then, the girls finished the song, and all four realized they'd gone through it perfectly. Jamie and Jade smiled brightly at each other and then jumped in shock when the applause from Tay and Ike caught them unaware. "Oh my god.." Jade breathed, and instantly her entire body became flushed, with excitement that Ike was standing in front of her and with embarrassment that someone besides Jamie had watched her play. "DAMN!!" Tay exclaimed and walked over to Jamie, placing a soft kiss on her cheek. "What?" Jamie asked, a slight smirk and a questioning look on her face. "You wrote that? Is that what you were talking about last night?" he asked, grabbing her hand and tugging her up off the bench. "Yeah, why?" she asked, looking back at Jade. Jade was frozen to her stool, staring at her feet. "Jade---leigh.." Jamie looked pointedly at her friend and spoke through clenched teeth. "Get UP.." she said and reached behind her, tugging her friend as Taylor tugged her over to the table. "Breakfast is getting cold.." Taylor continued. "We didn't wanna interrupt. That was awesome you guys.." he said looking directly at Jade. Jade felt the color rise in her face again as both pairs of Hanson eyes rested on her. "Don't look at ME.." she said softly and looked at her feet. "It's Jamie's song." "OH NO YOU DON'T!" Jamie admonished loudly. "There were a few lines that wouldn't have flowed, you get writing credit on this one, miss thang." Jamie told her, digging through the bags of food. "GOD! I AM STARVING.." Jamie exclaimed as she pulled everything out and set it on the table. Jade gave Ike a weak smile, which he returned warmly. "What'd you bring for the rest of you?" Jamie teased Taylor. "See?" Taylor answered back. "You should have let me feed you before you left for work last night. You wouldn't resemble my younger brother so much right at the moment.." he raised his eyebrow as she looked at him in shock. "Shut up and feed me now, you dork.." she chuckled. He leaned down and whispered in her ear, effectively quieting her. Jade looked at her friend, stunned, while Taylor wore a smug, self-satisfied look on his face. Jamie's face was flushed and she turned to pull paper plates out of the cupboard. "You play well.." Ike said softly to Jade then Jade was blushing as hard as Jamie. "Thank you." she answered in almost a whisper. "Here..." Ike said and grabbed a paper plate, then started to fill it for Jade, while Tay and Jamie managed their own breakfasts. "Thank you Isaac..." Jade answered softly again, took her plate and followed him to the chairs near the futon. Taylor and Jamie soon followed, planting themselves quite close to each other on the futon. The four relaxed after a few minutes and the conversation turned lively and fun for all of them again, as they ate. |
