"What?" Taylor grinned, feeling like he was under a microscope all of a sudden. "Well apparently we are not all that interested in TV so...I was waiting for you to finish what you were saying." she smiled back. "Oh." Tay thought for a moment. "What WAS I saying?" he laughed. "Don't remember." Jaime answered. "So it obviously wasn't important or ONE of us COULD." Taylor shrugged, "Jame?" Tay began cautiously, taking her long fingers gently in his hand. Jaime tried not to hold her breath as he looked deeply into her eyes. "Hmm?" she ran her thumb over the top of his hand. "Whatever is going on with Jade, Josh and Angel.." he licked his lips and took a deep breath. "What Taylor?" she urged, wondering where exactly he was going with this conversation. He looked intently at her and she found herself holding her breath anyway. "I just hope that it's not bad." he stated. "I'd hate to think we couldn't hang out together, I like you." Jaime continued to stroke the top of his large hand with her thumb. "I wouldn't do that. You can hang with me anytime. I like you, too." she smiled up at him. He felt his face flush and his heart beat faster. "That's cool, Jame." Before he could stop himself he was tucking a lock of her long, dark, artfully layered hair behind her ear. She licked her lips and smiled, covering his hand with hers. She tilted her head slightly, to look more closely at him, and suddenly his lips were pressing softly against hers. She leaned into it and closed her eyes, trying to process the whirlwind of emotions that hit her all at once. Taylor's heart pounded out of his chest, once he realized she wasn't going to clobber him for moving too fast. He was well aware of the fact that she could take care of herself, and dissuade ANYONE from making unwanted advances toward her. His body heated up even more when he felt her respond to him. She moved closer and squeezed his hand a little harder, as his free hand moved up into her hair and pulled her mouth more firmly onto his. He tenatively slipped his tongue against her lips and she opened her mouth to him, sliding her body even closer to his, letting her tongue caress his. Their kiss became more demanding, and Jaime placed her hand on Taylor's chest, pushing him slightly away when Zac's soft snore jerked her back to reality. Taylor pulled away and looked down at her, questioningly. "It's okay..but if this continues.." she took a deep breath and stroked the top of his hand with her thumb. "Jame? What?" Taylor lifted her chin, forcing her to look at him. She chuckled and threw her arms around his neck, squeezing him gently before she let him go and looked at him. "Weeeelll...for one thing, " she began, "I'm the first to admit I have almost NO self-control, and we are not ALONE. For another..I'm still coming down off a performance high." Taylor was shocked to see her blush. "I don't want to jump headfirst if it's only music-induced. I DO like you, Taylor." she lowered her head and tucked her hair behind her ears, folding her feet underneath her again. "Jeez, Jame.." he chuckled. "I DO know how you feel." He grinned and blushed when she looked up at him. "Hmm.. well okay then." she giggled. "Come here.." Taylor said softly and pulled her close, snuggling her against his side. He kissed the top of her head and left his arm around her shoulder. "What movie are we watching next?" he asked. She sat up straight and ran her hand through her hair. "You pick. They're all right there.." she pointed at the shelf next to the TV and stood. "And where are you going?" he raised his eyebrow at her. "Not far goofball," she laughed and strode to the closet, then pulled down another blanket and two more pillows. "Think fast!" Jamie teased, as she whipped a pillow at Taylor. He raised his hands just in time to catch it and grinned triumphantly at her. "Hmm...not bad.." she smiled and settled herself next to him on the futon. She stuffed a pillow behind her head and leaned against him, as he shoved his pillow behind his head and slipped his arm around her shoulder. She opened the folded blanket and covered both of them, then decided she could do without her pillow, since Taylor pulled her closer and his shoulder was a better, more comfortable choice. Taylor aimed the remote at the TV and started the movie, thinking that he was extremely comfortable in Jaime's presence and wondered if that should worry him. He found himself stroking her silky hair and tucking it behind her ear, absently, the same way he'd been rubbing her feet earlier as they watched the movie. He had to suck his breath in and will himself to relax, though, when her hand slid across his stomach softly and she snuggled closer to him. He shifted slightly and looked down at her, then had to chuckle. She was sound asleep. He reached for the remote, switched off the TV, then moved so he was lying next to her. She sighed and moved so they were both more comfortable, and Taylor pushed her pillow gently under her head. "Hmm?" she murmured in question, without really waking up. "Better?" he whispered as he curled himself around her, letting his arm drape over her small waist. "Mmmhmmm.." she murmured back as he lay hs head next to hers, rubbing his cheek against her soft hair. He raised his head and took another quick peek at Zac, who had turned and made himself comfortable in the recliner. Zac was still basically unconscious, so Taylor closed his eyes and let himself drift off, warmed more by the intriguing person he was snuggled against than the blanket. |
Jade reluctantly woke to the sound of her phone ringing insistently by her head. She rolled over and picked it up. "Hello?" she mumbled sleepily into the mouthpiece. "Hi. Jade?" came the voice she couldn't place through the line. "This is Jade." she stated and sat up, running her hand through her mass of tangled curls, willing herself to wake up enough to be coherent. "Oh good. I'm sorry to wake you. It's Isaac." Jade sat bolt upright, her eyes wide. "Hi..um...how are you?" she asked and waited, wondering why ISAAC of all people would be calling her at this early hour. Isaac chuckled. "Actually, Tay and Zac aren't home yet. Neither one of 'em is answering their cell. I was hoping you could give me Jaime's number? My Dad is gonna spaz if he at least doesn't hear one of their voices soon. Josh is in the shower. I think he's hiding." Ike laughed. "Oh Isaac! You're kidding! Jaime's usually still awake now...she wouldn't be too shy to answer either one of their phones.." Jade said hurriedly, trying to think of the quickest way to get hole of the three of them. "I can't believe she hasn't driven them home yet..." "It's okay, Jade. They're big boys. My dad just needs to know where they are. Can I have the number?" Ike asked, feeling bad that he'd worried her. Nevermind the fact that his heart was pounding a mile a minute at the sound of her voice. "Yes. Of course...It's.." jade gave him the number and then promised to get dressed and go right over to Jaime's place, just in case they were all asleep. "I'm sure that's all it is, Ike. They probably all JUST crashed. Jaime can stay up for a couple of days if she's SUPER hyped. And in case you didn't noticed she was last night. Part of the reason she was all over Angel like that." she sighed and Ike felt bad for her. It must suck big time for your cousin and your very best friend to dislike each other so much. "I hope they settle their differences soon, Jade. Less stress for you. You really don't have to go over there. I can call. Thank you though." Ike smiled into the mouthpiece and Jade could picture it. "I know. But I want to. I think that Jaime will feel really bad for keeping them out long enough to cause your Dad to worry. She's not as big a bitch as she'd like people to believe." Jade chuckled. "Don't let her fool you. It's self defense." "I figured as much. I like her jade. She's cool." Ike told her and then wondered if he could bring himself to end this phone call. A stab of guilt shot through him when he caught sight of a towel clad Josh hurrying back into the bedroom. "Josh is out of the shower..wanna talk to him?" Ike asked. "Tell him I'll talk to him later. I better get up and make sure the three of them are alright. Let him get dressed. I'll call Josh's cell from Jaime's." Jade answered, though she would rather have kept talking to Ike. He was very sweet and very interesting. She sighed heavily. "Jade, you really DON'T have to go over there.." Ike told her thinking that was the reason for her sigh. "No, no, no, I said I want to. I was thinking about something else. "I'll call as soon as I'm looking at them, okay?" she replied quickly. "If you're sure. And thanks again." Ike said with a smile and Jade's heart skipped a beat. "No problem. Bye, Ike." "Bye Jade." Ike smiled and hung up, then tried to control himself before he turned to face Josh, who was fortunately, busy struggling into his clothes. "Damn. She could have held on another second." Josh complained. "I think she's worried about getting Tay and Zac into trouble. She doesn't know them well enough to know they do just fine on their own in that department." Ike chuckled. "She'll call your cell from Jaime's. I need a shower and about a gallon of coffee.." Ike said and headed out of the bedroom to do just that. |
