Calley woke with a pounding in her head that she'd never felt the likes of before. "Oh god...." she moaned and rolled over. A small band of sunlight beamed through the slight separation in the heavy drapes, directly into her eyes. "Shit..." she muttered and reached down over the side of the bed, fumbling for the purse she'd let drop there. "Oh thank god.." she breathed when she found it, then hauled it up into the bed with her. She dug quickly through it, found the bottle of aspirin she was looking for, popped it open and swallowed four of them without bothering to reach for the glass of water on the night table. She sat up in bed, and leaned against the headboard, running a hand through her long, blonde hair. "Okay Calley...get your shit together. You are NOT going back there without knowing what the fuck you're doing.." she muttered to herself. She had been extremely glad that Zac and Tay HAD showed up, but she'd be damned if she'd let Zac see that the situation fazed her at all. And as far as Taylor was concerned, well...she didn't know about that, yet. AND she didn't want to think about it yet, either. "Okay..." she sighed again and moved slowly, though the pain in her head was subsiding. She turned her body and placed her feet on the soft carpet, then gave herself a second to adjust before pushing herself up and padding into the bathroom. She was glad this was one of those places that offered most of the toiletries you tended to forget when packing, like shampoo, toothbrushes (the disposable kind) and things of that sort. The cotton-y feeling and bitter taste leftover from last night's vodka and cranberry binge was making her sick to her stomach. She brushed her teeth before she did anything else, the rinsed and felt instantly better. She turned on he shower, and let the warm water wash over her as she concentrated on exactly how she was going to handle the rest of this day. Taylor's body protested when he tried to roll over, and his neck refused to move. "Oh fuck..." he muttered and then realized half the reason he couldn't move was because Zac's large, heavy body was half draped over his. Tay grunted as he shoved his brother off, the rolled away and slowly got to his feet. He managed to get the beer bottles picked up and put back in the boxes, then get himself into the shower so he coud fully wake up and think about hat to do. And he felt he had to DO something, because what he saw between Calley and that jerk-off she was married to made him afraid for her. Whether or not he wound up with her was not as important as her physical safety, and he didn't think she was. He wondered how long THAT had been going on, WHY she didn't say anything, and WHY in the HELL would she go back? And with that thought, he just became angry. She could have left, gotten out, he GAVE her that option a year ago. He fleetingly thought about just washing his hands of the whole damn thing, but some of the expressions he'd seen on her face the last few times he'd talked to her, and the look on her face before she sped away in that cab, told him that he needed to at least talk to her. He finished his shower, dried and dressed quickly and went into the main area of the suite. He grabbed a Dr. Pepper out of the mini-fridge and a slice of leftover pizza, then shoved the keys to his rental car in his pocket. He stuffed his wallet in his back pocket and hooked the chain to hi belt loop and ran smack in to Ike on the way out the door. "Sorry bro.." Taylor said as he shook the excess soda off his hands. "Gotta motor.." "Tay..wait.." Ike said and grabbed him by the shoulder. "What?" Taylor asked. looking Ike directly in the eye. "Do you even know where to look?" Zac suddenly appeared behind Ike. "No. I just need to drive...and think..." Taylor said. "I'll be back soon and I am NOT looking for her. I don't even know where she went..." "Wait...Tay..." Zac gripped Taylor's other shoulder. "I can come with you if you want.." he offered. "That's okay Zac. I won't let her 'snow' me, if that's what you're thinking. Anyway, I don't even know where to look. I just wanna DRIVE okay?" Taylor answered. "Kay.' Ike and Zac said in unison. "But don't forget we have to do that radio thing this evening...be back by 5, okay?" Ike added. "Kay. Later.." Taylor answered and flew out the door. Taylor drove for a long time, not having any general direction in mind. He reached again for his pack of smokes and realized he was out. "Fuck.." he muttered, and pitched the empty pack out the window. He looked around to see where in the hell he'd actually wound up, and for a place to stop and get some more cigarettes and another Dr. Pepper. "Oh my god..." he groaned when he realized where he was. Calley shuddered at the thought of having to put that dress back on, but since she'd wound up in the motel by happenstance, she had no choice. She put it on and slipped on the shoes, wrapped the sweater around her shoulders and pulled her still damp hair off her neck. She looked at the clock and then out the window, as she paced, waiting for her cab. She'd thought long and hard about what she was doing. She looked at the clock again, 11:00 am. Adam would NOT miss a day at the office for the likes of her, wife or not. That much she DID know about him. She just hoped the cab came and took her to the house SOON, because she planned to be in and out without a trace. Adam's calm, cool, collected head would spin, she was going to be gone so fast. The cab finally showed up, and she practically ran across the parking lot to get into it. |
