"Jamie....wait..." Taylor grabbed her arm as she reached the door to the garage apartment. She turned and looked at him.

"What, Tay?"

"I...oh man...nevermind..." he finally muttered, overcoming the urge to crush her to him and let everything come spilling out at once. He wanted to tell her that he loved her. How he wanted to hold her forever. How the way she'd gotten Jade to sing and use her talent made him love her even more. The terrified look on her face told him to keep his mouth shut, to stay with her and show her, without using the words that scared her so  much. As long as he didn't say them, she would feel safe enough. He knew that, but when she  was this close to him, and they were alone, he wanted to scream it at her, make her hear him. He wanted to bolt her down to the floor, so she couldn't run, and say them over and over. Hold her face so she had to look into his eyes as he repeated them again, until she knew he meant them. Until she could say them out loud to him, and not fall apart from fear. She shot him one more long look, then turned to open the door, but any other conversation they may have had was forestalled by Jamie's phone, ringing incessantly on the table in front of the futon.

"Shit." she muttered, "who the hell could that be?"
"Probably only Jade freaking out." he answered, matter-of-factly. Jamie grinned and lifted the handset. "Whassup?" she hollered into the phone.
"Hey, Jamie..." a slow, deep voice came through the wire directly into her ear.
"Holy shit.." she breathed, making Taylor freeze in his tracks.
"Rzeznik? Is that YOU?" she gasped.
"Duh, Jamie. Like I wouldn't be all over you for doing a cover of my stuff..." the low voice teased.
"Shut up, Johnny. It's a good song. Doesn't matter whose it is." she stated. "And how the hell did you KNOW? I didn't see your dorky ass anywhere."
Taylor tried not to gape at her as he realized exactly who she was talking to.
"I was there. So was Rob. You did a great job of covering the song, Jame. But that was mean as shit what you did to Taylor."
"I dunno what you're talking about, you big dumb polak. Why are you calling me?"
Taylor stood mesmerized as Jamie scowled at the handset, waiting impatiently.
"Just don't rip his heart to shreds like you did....well just don't lead him on, Jame. He's serious."
"Rzeznik will you get to the fucking point of this phone call? I don't need you commenting on my love life, asshole. It's none of your buisness. What the hell do you want?" she barked.
Taylor gaped openly now, wondering exactly how close the two of them had been and wanting to kick himself for feeling so intensely jealous. He couldn't help himself.
"That's my Jamie. Queen of charm..." Johnny chuckled, making Jamie's blood boil.
"YOU HAVE EXACTLY TWO SECONDS TO TELL ME WHAT THE HELL YOU WANT OR I AM HANGING UP THIS PHONE, DO YOU HEAR ME?!" she roared angrily, making John laugh.
"Sorry Jamie. I didn't know he was there. I think I am jealous. I've never seen the inside of the infamous garage..."
"ONE..."
"Okay okay...can you meet me sometime tomorrow? I need an opening act for the last leg of this tour, I told my management I'd deal with you. Divas are a pain in the ass, you know."
"Yeah, well, with THAT attitude you can kiss mine..."
"Whoa...okay, okay. I'm serious Jamie. What would Jimmy say if he heard you turn me down?"
"Who gives a shit? I'm not Jimmy. But you can buy me lunch on MONDAY anyway."
"I need to see you tomorrow, Jame."
Jamie sighed out loud. "I promised to have dinner with my dad, Johnny."
"HOLY SHIT! He's coming to dinner with your dad?"
"Johnny shut the hell up. Lunch Monday or nothing."
"I'd like to say hi to your dad, too Jame. I miss Jimmy as much as you do."
"No way in hell and if you wanna talk to Daddy, call HIM. Monday Johnny. Take it or leave it."
"Fine. Two o'clock at that place Jimmy liked so much."
"Okay, John." Jamie sighed again.
"Can't wait to see you, Jamie."
"Take it easy Johnny. See you Monday." Jamie hurriedly hung the reciever up and turned to Taylor.
"I know it's none of my business..." he said, softly.
"He wants the band to open for his the last leg of this tour. I don't wanna think about that now, Tay."
"Okay." he agreed. He didn't want to think about this either. He just wanted to make love to Jamie until her gaurd was down and she screamed her need for him.
Jamie kicked her boots off and flopped down on the futon. Taylor kicked off his shoes and joined her, a beer in hand for each of them.
