Lexi could not believe that she'd just managed to get the middle, most beautiful (in her opinion anyway) Hanson to follow her out of a coffee shop and actually converse with her. Not that it meant anything, she knew perfectly well he had somewhere he should be. But somehow, today, in the freezing, white dusted, sparkling fantasy land they were in, it did not matter. Taylor relaxed as they walked and found himself mesmerized by this dark-haired girl. He wanted to listen to her talk, wanted to know what she was thinking, found her opinions on everything refreshing, even if they did not match his. They stopped at the far end of the park. He followed her around a large tree and down a small hill toward a hidden pond. "Not everyone knows this little pond is here." she told him. "I like to come here in summer, and try to write. Too hard at home. Too many distractions." she stated as she looked out over the water. The pond looked almost magic, as snowflakes hit the water and floated a moment before disappearing. The dusting of snow covered the shores and lights flickered in the middle of it, reflecting back toward the crackerbox houses that sprinkled the slopes surrounding it. Lexi kept moving toward the water, while Taylor watched her, entranced. Snowflakes stuck to her hair and eyelashes, and the twinkling lights reflcted off the snow in her hair, making her appear surreal. He joined her at the water's edge and took her hand. Electricity flowed through the two of them as their gazes locked. Taylor brushed a snowflake off her cheek as she continued to stare into the suddenly shimmering blue of his eyes. "Come with me..." he said, his breath warming her frozen cheeks. He waited to hear her say yes, watching her cheeks flush with cold and excitement. His answer was already waiting in her eyes. "Taylor..." she managed to choke out as he bent his head and kissed her, his gloved hand playing with the ends of her long coffee colored hair. She felt her body heat up instantly as his tongue found its way into her mouth, gently parting her lips. He groaned when he tasted her. Like cinnamon, and vanilla. Sweet. "Tonight...we can have tonight." he said. He tugged on her hand and pulled her with him. "Tonight." she said under her breath, and followed without any more hesitation. She had somewhere to be as well. But tonight they would forget. They made their way around the corner from the coffee shop, up a short flight of steps, into the lobby of a small motel. Taylor checked them in, in silence. The clerk barely looked up. He was too busy with whatever was on his computer screen to notice them. Tay took the key with a muttered "thanks" and ushered Lexi down the hallway quickly, so as not to bring attention to her. He could handle whatever came his way, but he would not wish the paparazzi on this sweet girl, whom he wanted for his own, but could never have. He knew he should give her an opportunity to change her mind, but not to have her next to him, in his arms, naked against him, in his bed was something he could not pass by on this night. Lexi knew she should tell Taylor that this could not happen again, that she had responsibilities as looming as his own. She felt slight hesitation from him and then it was gone, just as quickly. She knew he knew what she was thinking. She wanted him, to hold him, be the one to make him feel. She wanted him to make her feel. "We can have tonight." His words echoed in her head. This was not the night to be logical, she had not FELT anything in so long. home back next |
