Mr. Steek, what will you do for Winnipeg if you are elected mayor?

I see this as a world-class city that is the safest in the country.

I see a city that is committed to restoring its infrastructure within 10 years and is truly open to attract business.

I see a city committed to arts and culture, with enhanced funding for school performing arts initiatives.

I see a mayor who is willing to listen and learn, and not lecture.

I see a mayor accessible and willing to work with all members of council.

I see a mayor who is beholden to no political party but rather to the citizens of Winnipeg.

Thank you. Now, why should the citizens of Winnipeg vote for you instead of the other candidates?

During my 8 years on Council, I have taken a strong stance on difficult issues.

I voted for the smoking by-law, additional police and fire fighters, and against the initial New Deal due to the enormous tax burden it would place on citizens. I also voted against user fees for garbage.

I have always been fiscally prudent and have been unswerving in my commitment to the community.

I am unabashedly pro business and believe in intelligent development, which provides direct economic benefits to the City.

The positions I have taken have been direct and unambiguous.
