Province offers job to ex-councillor
WINNIPEG - Dan Vandal, a former Winnipeg city councillor who ran for mayor in the recent election and lost, has landed a new job.
Vandal has been appointed a co-ordinator of the Winnipeg Partnership Agreement, a new $75-million tri-level agreement for community and economic development.
Over the next five years, the partnership will make investments in the city's aboriginal community and inner-city neighbourhoods, among other things. Vandal will be part of a team that manages the partnership's various programs.
Premier Gary Doer says Vandal brings years of experience to the job and has demonstrated strong skills and commitment to Winnipeg's urban development and its aboriginal community.
