| We are pleased to announce that Hugh D. McFadyen has joined our Firm and will practice in the areas of Civil Litigation and Financial Services. Hugh has a strong background in advocacy. He served as Principal Secretary and senior policy advisor to Premier Filmon between 1995 and 1999, playing a central strategic role in contentious initiatives ranging from the sale of crown corporations to health reform. He went on to become a senior consultant with Toronto strategy firm Navigator Ltd., advising clients on making their case in the court of public opinion – covering energy restructuring, pharmaceuticals and public accounting reform. Hugh also spent 2 years in the UK practicing law with Clifford Chance LLP and doing post-graduate work at University College London. Hugh’s practice will involve him in commercial disputes, insolvency, builders’ liens, public law, and will include appearing before courts at all levels and before public and administrative bodies. He graduated from the Faculty of Law in 1993 and was called to the Manitoba Bar in 1994. Hugh was a Governor at the University of Manitoba and has served in a variety of other volunteer capacities.
