Vandal said he believed the city's first urban reserve could open within two years, but he didn't provide any more details...As well, the Long Plain First Nation and Brokenhead First Nation have been working together on a plan to acquire the Kapyong Army Barracks on Kenaston Boulevard when the army vacates it this summer.
If successful, the site would be converted to a mixed-use neighbourhood with housing and commercial businesses.
The Long Plain band has toured the site and Brokenhead plans to take a look soon.
Brokenhead Chief Tina Leveque told the lawyers in the audience her band is interested in economic development to create wealth and jobs.
