| In Brief Winnipeg Free Press Tuesday September 7 2004 Anti-condo website online A group opposed to a plan to build condominiums on an abandoned rail bridge has opened a website (www.condosonthebridge.com) in an effort to seek broader public support for its cause. Ed Hume, a spokesman for Citizens Against Condos on the Bridge, said they are hoping city councillors will reject the idea this month when it comes before a series of civic committees. The CN Rail bridge is on the Red River, just east of the St. James Bridge. Architect Alan Katz bought it last year with the intent of building high-end condos on it. Hume said his group has complained to the federal and provincial governments because the project may need their approval to meet environmental regulations. |
