| In the fall of 2002 MHRC proposed that they conduct a Design Charrette with the University of Manitoba, Faculty of Architecture. That study took place from April 30 to May 3, 2003. (The resulting report can be purchased directly from the Faculty of Architecture by contacting Susan Shanley at 474-6801.) The charrette was designed to include three teams of up to 12 persons. Each team was to be made up of participants from the City of Winnipeg (planning and engineering), local community representatives, the Provincial Council of Women and people from complementary fields and backgrounds. The Urban Development Institute nominated Ross McGowan (McGowan Russell Group) and Greg Jasper (Genstar) to represent them. Winnipeg's Harry Finnigan and Ladco's Ken Oblik were reportedly noted as very interested observers. (Gentle Reader, please check back to see when I have finished entering the Design Charrette into my computer and can upload it for your perusal. Till then, please read the Provincial Council of Women's Elizabeth Fleming's article in the Free Press |
