Our Mission
To assist our parishioners in continuing Jesus' mission, his work, & his service toward others.
Food Collection for our local Food Bank will be  June 6/7, July 11/12 (due to holiday), & Aug 1/2.
Our local Food Bank’s shelves were over-flowing in Dec from the generosity of its supporters during the holidays. However, as summer approaches the shelves are often bare as donors get busy with summer activities. Families are now struggling to provide meals to children who were eating reduced/free breakfast & lunches at school in during the winter. Please help them meet the current needs of those who hunger. If you aren’t attending that weekend, drop off your items in the church or office during business hours.
Drivers needed after the 10am Mass to deliver to the Food Bank.
Email Linda at the office to volunteer.

Food Facts
: 1 out of 8 households in the US has reduced its diet to utilize money elsewhere (rent, clothing, daycare). 37% of the adults requesting food in 2006 were working.

Catholic Charities
St. Mary's is partnering with others in the Waverly-Shell Rock Community
in the Backpack Program. Children in need, who rely on free or reduced (cost) school breakfast & lunch programs for their meals during the week, are given a backpack with 5-8 lbs. of food the child is able to prepare themselves. This backpack provides a weekend of meals for those who would otherwise hunger. The backpack is returned on Monday, ready to refill on Friday for the weekend. St. Mary's is providing space to assemble the carepackages & some of the volunteers. To get involved contact the office 319-352-2493 or SMC.Adm@q.com.
