Would like to be a Liturgical Minister? Check out opportunities below to get more involved: Ministers of Hospitality – Ushers and Greeters : In this ministry, you say to all who enter our church, “You are our brothers and sisters in Christ and we want to make you feel welcome!” Your goal is to make every person, every friend and stranger, to feel they are important to us. We want to invite all people to participate in this ministry. Individuals, couples and/or families may serve as Ministers of Hospitality. School age children are welcome when serving with a parent-supervisor. Sacristan – You are essentially the “set up crew” before Mass and the “clean up crew” after Mass. This is a great individual or family ministry. Lector and Commentator - As lector, you share the Word of God with the parish community. As a commentator, you share the message and prayers of our parish community. This includes the introduction before Mass, the prayers of the faithful and announcements. This is open to 3rd grade and above. Eucharistic Ministers – Our goal is to distribute the Eucharist with dignity and grace. See yourself as the person who is giving Jesus to your brothers and sisters. This is a holy and awesome ministry. To be a Eucharistic minister, you must be a confirmed Catholic. Homebound Eucharistic Ministers – In bringing communion to those who are unable to come to church (because of illness or difficulty in getting into the church), the ministers of communion represent Christ and the entire faith community. In bringing communion to the sick, you are asked to pray with the individuals (prayer is provided), distribute holy communion, and visit with them. You do not need to be a Eucharistic minister at Mass in order to be a Homebound Eucharistic Ministers. This is a wonderful individual or family ministry. Schedules for all ministries are made out for two weeks. If you cannot make your scheduled time, you are asked to find a replacement or call the parish office as soon as possible. Training is provided for all ministries. Contact Jenny at the parish office for more information or to sign up, #352-2493 ext# 14 or SMC.Lit@q.com |
