| Purgatory Stepping out into the light I'm falling, falling, falling Everyone is watching I am being pushed Face-first I go down, down, down The eyes move like birds I'm rushed upon the faces The voices chirp their whispers I'm standing at the edge The darkness below me, The humiliation behind, And yonder the light and Familiar, familiar things I stumble on through Purgatory As I perform upon the stage |

| Very short, I know, but I like it. Mostly because I know what these feelings are like. I don't exactly have stage-fright, but I hate performing in front of crowds. Thankfully enough, I'm getting over that fear, though. I was inspired by the character Himemiya Anthy of Shoujo Kakumei Utena. I had just watched episode 3, On the Night of The Ball, and was thinking of the scene where Anthy sees a sea of screeching faces as she looks into the crowd. Mostly, though, I drew on personal experience. Tell me what you think! Go back to the poetry page. |
