Endless Journey, Ever-Tortured Soul

Reach out into the starry night
Reaching with the hand of Time
Disturb the water - ripples of light
And make the note there for my mind

Drifting through Eternity
Looking for the Endless Light
How come only now I see
It was inside of me that night?

I'm dreaming of reality
Just as an illusion is built
Angered by your brutality
I take my sword by the hilt

Drawing on the power of my soul
I strike a single blow
It seems that I've accomplished my goal - -
A pool of blood on the snow

A life-long journey ended in tears
Weeping, for the world cannot
A timeless search to quell my fears
It's too bad I'm stuck with this lot

The human condition – to love, to hate?
I, too, am faced with this path
But already, it's too late -
I'm tortured by my own wrath

I'm dreaming of reality
Just as an illusion is built
Disgusted by my brutality
From my fingers falls the hilt

On my knees I cry
Face in hands, I weep
I ask myself, again, "why?" - -
A promise to myself I couldn't keep

Betrayed and a traitor I lay
In the snow on my knees
–It seems that the dreamer has lost her way–
I wait for my body to freeze
Wow. Disturbing, ne?
Believe it or not, I actually didn't write all of this one in one sitting. I received the first stanza in Vision, and after that, it just sort of floated around my room for a long time. Every once in awhile, I'd find it and add more. I really like the way it came out, even though I couldn't tell you what it was about. I think this song came to me either through complete Vision, or the Collective Unconscious of humanity, or a combination of both. Very little of it is me. It's not often that I rhyme my work, and it's usually not so structured, and the grammar is different. It's much more like the poetry that I would write a few years later, which makes me wonder....
