It's Time ... Your ship is anchored in the bay, with sails that have been torn; You've been there for many a day, safe from the surf and storm. And each day that you spent mending, each and every tear; Many a vessel was sailing, so far away from here. So, when will your sloop be ready for sailing once again? When will you round the stone jetty with, sails raised to the wind? When will you know that a salt's life, is stymied by the calm? When will you face the ocean's strife; find the courage to sail on? The time is now right for sailing, it's time to leave the shore! It's time to get off your mooring and set the sails once more ... So up the anchor; up the sail, test your skills and knowledge. Practice has shown you cannot fail, use wisdom not learned in college. Then one night, when the moon is full and stars shine overhead; The thoughts you have, will want to pull you from your sleepy bed. And up on deck, with pen in hand, the words to paper will fly. Tales will unfold; you'll understand; you'll not be high and dry. So when you anchor once again, and leave the deep behind. Those tales will already be written and recorded into time. The time is now right for sailing, it's time to leave the shore! It's time to get off your mooring and set the sails once more ... Yes! Set the sails once more ... Joy A. Burki-Watson |
