MY PROGRESS AT OGEECHEE TECHNICAL COLLEGE

The location of most of my problems with math.
SUMMER 2005

I finally passed Algebraic Concepts (Math 103) with a C. I am very certain this is the LAST difficult math course I will take in my life.AMEN!!!!! I also passed Microsoft Access, which is a database program, with an A.
FALL 2003
I had a Simi-sweet start to my education by passing Introduction to Micro Computers with an "A" ,but I failed Math 96, which is a developmental course. My instructor was a major contributing factor to my failure with Math 96. Her uncaring attitude is most likely the reason she is no longer an employee of the school. The school administration seems to do a fine job of "weeding out" instructors who do not care about their students.
WINTER 2004
I took math 96 again and passed with a satisfactory and also passed computer concepts with a “B” average. It was my first online course.

SSRPING 2004
I passed Math 97, which is another developmental course and Business English with a "B" average. I then took summer quarter as a break.

FALL 2004
I returned to school after a three month break, and promptly failed pre-algebra (Math 98) but passed Business Communications with an "A". My verbal skills have always been superior to my mathematical skills. My Math 98 instructor, who is great at her job, taught two of my three developmental math courses. My English instructor taught both of my required English courses, and made learning English interesting and fun.

WINTER 2005

I finally passed Pre-algebra, (Math 98).  I decided to take only one course because of my difficult history with math.

SPRING 2005
I failed Algebraic Concepts (Math 103). I have to admit being very upset about this. I came so close to passing the course.

SUMMER 2005

I
II have discovered I will never use most of the mathematical concepts taught in Math 103.  I hope there will be a change in this policy someday. There is no need for anyone to struggle with concepts they will never use on a job. There needs to be truth in Education; especially in a technical school
FALL 2005

I passed Advanced Excel Spreadsheets and Operating System Concepts  with an "A" for both. This is the first time in my life to be an "A student."  I received a letter of accommodation from Dr. Gene Waters, the president of OTC, on Christmas Eve day. What a Christmas present! I am very encouraged. I am on my way to success.

WINTER 2006

I had Program Design and Networking Fundamentals. I  once again made an "A" in both courses.
SPRING 2006

I had Visual Basic Programming and Advanced Word Processing. I have made all "A's" once again. Am I dreaming?!!!

Visual Basic Programming was difficult, although; I made a good grade. I decided to take summer off to rest and try to save on gasoline a little. I made a good decision!
FALL  2006
I

I took my last program course, which was Microcomputer installation and maintenance. It is a very technical course, but I managed a "B" grade somehow.

I attepted to sign up for an online HTML Fundamentals class from Valdosta Technical Collage, but the class was canceled the first day.
Winter 2007
My standing as a president's list student came to an end for Fall quarter. I had Interpersonal Relations and Professional Development and Geographic Information Systems, which is not required for my major. I took it as an elective. I would have taken a CIS subject, but three CIS instructors decided to make career changes and one was promoted to a non-teaching position.  I was able to pass EMP 100 with a "B" and GIS 100 with a "C".
