Philosophy:
My aspiration to become a teacher unfolded throughout my schooling. My desire to teach was reaffirmed during high school, university and while I was an educational assistant, as a result of my experiences.

The field of education is continually evolving, therefore I find this profession both invigorating and challenging. I feel that I am well suited for the teaching profession because I posses the qualities of patience, creativity, understanding and flexibility; qualities that not only benefit me in teaching but those whom I interact with. My love for athletics and health inspired me to receive a degree in Physical Education at Brock University where they focus on a child centred approach to movement. Through my strengths, skills and experience I have been able to help nurture the growth, motivate, and enrich the learning environment of children.

The importance of clear communication between the teacher, student and parents is tremendous and therefore integrating communication into all aspect of the curriculum is a main priority when doing my planning. I believe in letting all involved parties understand where we are coming from and where we are going. I do this through a web page which contains, weekly letters, weekly progress, nightly homework and posted assignments. My motto regarding communication is “no surprises”.

Over the past eight years I have worked cross divisionally, from kindergarten to grade eight. Particularly intermediate core subjects and primary and junior physical education. I have been involve heavily in extra-curricular pursuits that enrich the learning environment for the entire school community. The opportunity to work with students and staff outside the classroom is very rewarding for me.
