A little while later, Buddy woke up. He crawled out of his little bed and yawned and stretched. "Ooooo! That feels good!" he thought. Then, he went into the kitchen and ate his breakfast and drank his milk. Next, he gave himself a bath - like all good cats do after they've eaten - and then he hopped up on the couch in the living room to decide what to do for the day.
He looked at his toys, but he was tired of them. He thought about running in and out of the bathroom doors with the toilet paper behind him, but he knew he would get in trouble if he did that. He was bored! He might have crawled into one of the dark, cozy cabinets to take a nap, but since he slept so late, he wasn't tired.
"All I want to do is go outside. I guess I'll just watch the rain from the window." He walked slowly to the window, prepared for another lazy, boring day and poked his head through the curtains that covered the window.
"Oh no!" he cried.
He couldn't believe his eyes. It wasn't raining. He ran to the big glass door and looked again - just to make sure. It was the most beautiful day he had ever seen. The sun was shining and the sky was bright blue. The grass and trees were green and all the flowers were blooming. He could tell that the wind was blowing just enough to make the day flutter all around him and tickle his nose. Then, he ran and looked at the calendar that was hanging above his little bed.
"Oh no!" he cried again, "I forgot! It's the first day of Spring - and I'm going to miss it!"
