I love to smell the forest after the rain, so fresh and sweet
The dust has settled which makes the scene almost complete
My footprints along the winding paths gently mark my trail
Water-laden limbs, sometimes my progress does curtail
Droplets from above, fall softly upon my head
And spatter those footprints where I have tread
Blue sky peeks through the cloudy sky
Birds and little creatures emerge to taste and try
Manna from the heavens, what a great treat
Another cycle in nature is now complete
The rain washes away refuse discarded by man
And refurbishes the landscape, better than anything else can
Now you know why I love it after a fallen rain
It revives a drought, clears the air and it is never done in vain
