What have my blue eyes seen? From the time of my birth until age twelve, not much. Most of what I saw was fuzzy and blurred. But then the world was opened with a pair of glasses. I didn't ever have the desire to hide them from others, as many teenagers do. Those glasses brought me new insight. I found that all boys were handsome, and that my parents were just people like me.

That soft little creature that loved me was my dog. Birds flew in the sky. Television was no longer just radio, but actually showed events to watch.

I have seen and shook hands with President Eisenhower. I watched television as the man walked on the moon. President Ford waved to me, and lots of others too. I watched airplanes fly in the sky and was saddened when they didn't fly for awhile after 9/11.

I have seen and heard politicians lie to us. I have seen it rain and I have seen the sunshine. I have seen tragic accidents. I have seen marvelous adventures.

I have watched the sun rise over the desert as I stood atop a mountain top looking down. I have seen deer bounding in the meadow. I have seen ocean waves pounding against the shore.

I have seen water spouts. I have seen fear and sadness. I have seen happiness.

I have seen my babies grow up and have babies of their own. I helped one of those grandchildren enter this world before the paramedics arrived.

Now my blue eyes aren't as strong as they were. But I still see better than I did when I was in grade school. My vision then was almost none existent. They say some day I may be blind, but I was blind once before. This doesn't frighten me as much as it might frighten someone who has always had their sight. The great thing is that somewhere in between I have seen .
