A fellow gave me a diamond,
And it was very nice,
I think I've even worn it,
Maybe once or twice.
Another gave me roses,
He sent them every day,
For all their beauty and fragrance,
They ended up in my way.
A fellow took me on the town,
To dinner and a show;
We saw.....oh what was it?
Give me time, I know I know.
A fellow gave me a rare old book,
Inscribed long ago,
In fancy script and loving words,
By some enamored suitor,
To his Darling Jo.
I sit sometimes in the evening,
With that book and my orange tabby cat,
And dream about that fellow,
He's the one I'll never forget.
