T: Review and discuss syllabus. General information from Dr. Nesbitt about writing (i.e., what should be in an introductory paragraph, how you put headers in a document, what a thesis is, how to write in the third person, passive voice, researching, and other such matters).
T: Some basic information about debates and arguments. Click on this link, print it out, read it, and bring it in for today. Discuss Essay #1. We may spend some time in class developing some other examples and/or talking about the three pages of terms in the glossary (747-750). This is a link with some information about integrating quotes into your essays. You should take a look at this sometime before finishing the final version of the first paper.
